James Truitt Obituary

Mr. James W. (Jimmy) Truitt, Jr., age 79, of Jonesville SC, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family into the presence of his Lord and Savior on April 13, 2024.

Mr. Truitt was born in Warner Robins, GA, July 7, 1944, a son of the late James W. Truitt, Sr. and Florence Biffle Truitt. He was retired from Springfield Industries in Gaffney and had been an electrician/maintenance manager for several other companies throughout his career. He was a member of West Springs Baptist Church and had previously attended Beulah Baptist. Papa Jim loved his family and his animals, especially his little dog, Lula Belle. He was considered a “Mr. Fix It” and also loved to spend time fishing at his brother’s pond in Georgia.

Surviving are a son, Rev. Mark Truitt and wife Amy; and a daughter in law, Holly Truitt (Chad - deceased son); Four granddaughters, Kristina Truitt (Hunter), Madyson Hall (Seth), Annabeth Truitt (Kenneth) and Katelyn Truitt (Luke). He is also survived by brothers, Johnny (Brenda) Truitt and Charles (Charlotte) Truitt along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Mr. Truitt was predeceased by his parents, his brother Billy Truitt, his sister Betty Dobson and his hunting/fishing buddy; his baby boy, Chad Truitt. Papa Jim was especially excited about the upcoming birth of his first great-grandchild, Dalton Banks Hall.

Active pallbearers will be Seth Hall, Luke Davis, Cory Truitt, Craig Truitt, Jimmy Lawson, Anthony Duckett, and Hunter Vaughn.

A service to celebrate Papa Jim’s life will be held Tuesday, April 16 at 3PM at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by his son, Rev. Mark Truitt. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:45PM at the church prior to the service.

The family would like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice, especially Kacie and Michelle, for their wonderful care of Papa Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairforest Baptist Church (Playground Equipment) 1917 Jonesville Hwy. Union, SC 29379

The family will be at the home, 1733 Mudbridge Road Jonesville, SC 29353.
