Mrs. Lucy Ann Harris Stone, age 88, wife of Melvin B. Stone of 406 Wilson St., Union, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the Union Medical Center.

Mrs. Stone was born in Union, July 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Joseph Moody Harris and Julia Palmer Harris. She was a retired caregiver at the former Union County Nursing Home and a caregiver for all her brothers, sisters, and parents. Mrs. Stone was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are a son, Stan Gallman and wife Karen; a daughter, Pam G. Cavender and husband Danny all of Union; two grandchildren, Brandi G. Weaver and Nikki C. Harris both of Union; two step-daughters, Angie Stevens and Patsy Stone both of Whitmire; two great-grandchildren, Dylan J. Weaver and Luke Harris. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.  Mrs. Stone was predeceased by three sisters, Roxie Garner, Bertha “Pert” McCoy, and Madge Bank Belue; and three brothers, Marshall Harris, J.M. Harris and Willie Harris.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and love to her husband, Melvin B. Stone during her time of need.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Walker and Rev. Glen Ribelin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The following nephews will serve as active pallbearers, Wayne Belue, Larry Belue, Dennis Belue, Neil Belue, Bruce McCoy and Steve McCoy.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 3:00 PM Sunday at church prior to the services.

Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Paving Fund, 1622 Kelly Rd., Union, SC  29379.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Pam and Danny Cavender, 291 Hidden Forest Dr., Union.

Gilbert Edward "Nig" Smith
Union, SC


Mr. Gilbert Edward “Nig” Smith, age 74, husband of Sybil Smith of 219 Old Pump Station Rd., Union, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born February 14, 1942 in Union a son of the late Claude P. Smith and Annie Bell Smith.  He was a retired mechanic having worked at B.H. Motors for many years. Mr. Smith loved Bluegrass music especially when the fields turn brown and was a fisherman at heart.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Lisa Reenbenaker and husband Robert; two sons David Smith and wife Laurie and Gilbert E. Smith, Jr. (Shortly Lo) and wife Arrie; two sisters, Pearl Inman and Linda Thomas and husband Preston; two brothers, James Monroe Smith and wife Nancy and Kent Smith and special friend Debbie Inman; a sister-in-law, Thelma Smith; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by four brothers, Carl Lewis Smith, William Charles Smith, LJ Smith, and Harold Smith and two sisters, Hazel Gregory and Della Smith Moss.

Mr. Smith left behind two special boys, a grandson, Matthew Smith of the home and Caleb Deal whom he loved so much.  All of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were loved just as much. He also left behind two beloved dogs, Blue and Snowball.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Medi-Home Hospice, Dr. Wentz and Staff, Palmetto Drug Store Employees, Upstate Medical, Gibbs Cancer Center, Dr. Juliette Sadd and the numerous friends that have shown their care and concern to Mr. Smith during his illness.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2016 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Mark Truitt and Rev. Scott Cobb.  Burial will follow in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Smith will be carried to the home, 219 Old Pump Station Rd., Union, where the family will receive friends after 2:00 PM Thursday.  Visitation will also be held 1:00 until 3:00 PM Friday prior to the services at the church.

Active pallbearers will be the following nephews, Kenny Smith, Paul Gregory, Randy Gregory, Joey Gregory, Dennis Smith, Donald Ray Smith, and Dillion Smith.  The following are asked to form the honorary escort, William Moss, Ricky Thompson, Frank Lancaster, Ray Bailey, Billy Millwood, Ken Eades, Robbie Wells, Bogard Land, Lewis Moss, Pee Wee Humphries, Medi Home Hospice Nurses, Jessica Paige and Chasity Rochester.

Jerry Dean Martin

Mr. Jerry Dean Martin, age 80, of 128 Scout Dr., Buffalo, widow of Barbara Jean Millwood passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Martin was born on November 15, 1935 a son of the late Clarence Wesley Martin and Lucille Greene Martin. He was retired from Milliken and Co. Lockhart and Monarch Plants.  Mr. Martin was a member of Jonesville Church of God and was a former member of the SC National Guard.

Surviving are three daughters, Terri Martin Allison and husband Wayne of Jonesville, Debbie Martin Schmieder and husband Gary of Charleston, and Crystal Martin of Monarch; one sister, Dorothy Millwood of Chester; one brother, William “Dub” Martin of Jonesville; two special grandchildren, Josh Jones and Sheena Moore; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one son, William Dean Martin; one brother. John “Junior” Martin, Jr.; and one sister, Shirley Stampey.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Roger Byrd.  The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.

Evelyn Steely Crisp

Mrs. Evelyn Steely Crisp, age 89, formerly of Buffalo, widow of James L. Crisp, Sr., passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 at Heartland of Union.

Mrs. Crisp was born in Creswell, NC on January 10, 1927 a daughter of the late Henry Steely and Drucilla Sexton Steely.  She was retired from United Merchants Buffalo Plant and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, James L. Crisp, Jr., Ronald P. Crisp, and Preston Crisp all of Buffalo; two grandchildren, Albert Crisp and Amanda Fox and husband Randy; a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Steely of Plymouth, NC and Julian Steely of Norfolk, VA; and a special niece, Rita Kimmerling of St. Paul, MN.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Lynn Ford.  The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the cemetery.

Betty Bentley Webber

Mrs. Betty Bentley Webber, age 87, formerly of Baileytown Road, Union, widow of Pinckney S. Webber, Jr., passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Pelham Medical Center.

Mrs. Webber was born in Adamsburg Community of Union County, SC August 8, 1929, a daughter of the late William Bentley and Maggie Farr Bentley. She was a 1977 graduate of Lockhart High School and was a member of Lockhart United Methodist Church. Mrs. Webber was a member of the United Methodist Women, Red Hat Club, the Joy Club of Philippi Baptist Church and the Wesley Chapel Senior Citizen Group. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters: Pat Harris of Buffalo and Ava Pridemore and husband Dell of Duncan; three sons: Stanley Webber and wife Sara of Boiling Springs, Mike Webber and wife Donna of Duncan and Sammy Webber and wife Lynn of Lockhart; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Webber was predeceased by a grandson, Brad Mosley; four sisters, Janie E. Bentley, Kathleen Hutchins, Mildred McSwain and Frances Bentley and a two brothers, W.F. Bentley and Rev. Jesse Bentley.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2016 at Lockhart United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Jimmy Harper, Rev. Skip Synder and Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery. 

Mrs. Webber’s grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The following will serve as the Honorary Escort: Joyce Haney, Pat Gibson, Brenda Clark, Sue Jackson and members of Wesley Chapel Senior Group.

Vegia Ivey Gregory

Mrs. Vegia Ivey Gregory, age 84, wife of Fred L. Gregory, Sr, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at Inverness ALF, Spartanburg, SC.

Mrs. Gregory was born in Union, SC May 29, 1932, a daughter of the late Autrey Ivey and Rosa Blackwell Ivey. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and received an Associate Degreee in Early Childhood Education. She had worked for the South Carolina Department of Social Services, the Selective Service and retired from the Internal Revenue Service. She was one of the first women to become a Revenue Officer. Upon retirement Mrs. Gregory worked with the Union County Tax Office. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Fredrick L. Gregory, Jr and wife Cecilia of Raleigh, NC and Phillip Wayne Gregory and wife Sandra of Great Falls, SC; two grandchildren: Matthew Gregory of Raleigh, NC and Kathryn Gregory of Seattle, WA. Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by four brothers.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cannon.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.

Mrs. Gail Teenie Inman Kirby, age 68 wife of David Bradburn of 340 Grindall Ford Rd., Gaffney, passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Kirby was born in Union, SC on October 19, 1948 a daughter of the late Ernest Inman and Jeanette Inman.  She was a member of Skull Shoals Baptist Church in Gaffney.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Scott Teaster and wife Dawn of Gaffney and Carl Teaster of Florida; one daughter Wanda Alman of Gaffney; two sisters, Alice Smith and Alma Durham and husband Alvin all of Gaffney; three brothers, Larry Inman and wife Rebecca of Chesnee, Alan Inman and wife Rebecca of Gaffney, and Junior Inman of Union; five grandchildren, Haley, Cheyenne, Amber, Dustin, and Gerald, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Aleeyah, Karrigan, Tyler, and expecting a forth, Emory Alman.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Charles Anthony Owen, II, age 30 of 1447 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Owen was born in Union, SC November 19, 1985, a son of Charles Anthony “Tony” Owen, Sr and Kendreal Hall Owen both of Union.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Joshua Hall of Waterloo and Vincent Lee Owen of Union; Maternal grandmother, Faye Hall and special friend Bobby Stewart; a girlfriend, Nicole “Nikki” Walker all of Union; an aunt, Roxanne Scarbrough of Union; two uncles: Rick Owen of Union and Perry Hall of Easley and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Owen was predeceased by Maternal grandfather, Melvin Hall, Patrenal grandfather, Richard A. Owen, Sr; Paternal grandmother, Barbara W. Owen and two uncles, Darrell Owen and Benji Owen.

Charles will be taken to the home of his mother, Kendreal Owen, 402 Richard Street, Union where the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon Thursday until 4:00 PM Friday.

Mrs. Dorothy Corrie Wix Eaves, age 91, widow of Thomas Arnold Eaves, of 222 South Boyce St., died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Eaves was born in Union, SC., April 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Jack Wix and Corrie Brock Wix. She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Gerald Eaves and wife, Tammy of Union; a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Denise Hill and husband, Jim of Pickens; a sister, Lidia Campbell of Jonesville; grandchildren, David Eaves and wife, Elizabeth, Shanna Cohen and husband, Jamie, Tonya Brown and husband, Jimmy, Amber Hill and fiancée, Lee Kathey; great-grandchildren, Matthew Cohen, Liliana Cohen, Zayne Brown, Faith Brown, Landon Taylor, Kenley Holden and Stella Kathey. Mrs. Eaves was predeceased in life by eight brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert Branch and Rev. Gerald Eaves. Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Randall Lee Jones, age 52, husband of Terry Johnson Jones of 240 Woodgate Rd., Cowpens, SC., passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016.

Mr. Jones was born in Union, SC September 10, 1964 a son of the late Lee M. and Betty Lockaby Jones. He worked as a sheet metal engineer. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and friend.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a step-daughter, Amanda McGahee and husband Josh of Ridge Spring; step-son, Joseph Bennington and wife, Sonya of Aiken; a daughter, Mary Brook Knox of Union; two sisters, Pamela J. Puckett and husband Roy of Union and Karen S. Jones of Cowpens; a step-grandson, Nevin Bennington and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Jones was predeceased in life by two brothers, Paul Jones and Steve Jones.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Shannon Faulkner.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service at the S.R. Holcombe Chapel.

Mr. William Grady Cogdill, age 72, husband of Juanita Shrader Cogdill of 319 Double Bridge Rd., Boiling Springs, died Thursday evening, September 15, 2016 at Spartanburg Medical Center.  He was a former resident of Baber Street, Union.|

Mr. Cogdill was born in Lockart, SC., October 10, 1943, a son of the late Grady Lee Cogdill and Virginia Bennett Cogdill. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and Lee College in Cleveland TN.  Mr. Cogdill retired from Torrington Tiger River plant after 37 years.

A member of North Spartanburg Church of God.  Mr. Cogdill served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the church choir and sang with various other local groups.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Lee Cogdill and wife Angela and Timothy Brian Gaston and wife Janet both of Union; a sister, Mary Lee Moss of Spartanburg; a brother, Leonard Fred Cogdill and wife Bobbie of Boiling Springs; three granddaughters, Brittany Moore Cogdill, Amanda McCraw and Taylor Cogdill all of Union.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at North Spartanburg Church of God, 2069 Chesnee Hwy., Spartanburg SC. 29303, conducted by the Rev. Larry Flippo. Burial will follow at 4:00 PM in Union Memorial Gardens, 1720 Whitmire Hwy., Union, SC., 29379.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 2:00 PM prior to service at the church and also immediately following the committal service at the cemetery.

Mr. Harvey Smith, age 81, husband of Shirley Inman Smith of 106 Third Street, Union, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at Union Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born in Union, SC October 3, 1934, a son of the late Zeb Smith and Virgie Inman Smith. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was retired from the county of Union. Mr. Smith was a member of the Union Church of God.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Debbie Edwards; a brother, D.C. Smith and wife Connie all of Union; five grandchildren; and special friends, Jamie Babb and wife Ann and Michael Howell and wife Amy all of Union. Mr. Smith was predeceased by three daughters, Sheila Parker, Tammy Inman and Cricket Moore; a son, Brian Smith and two granddaughters, Gabriel Queen and Amy Lynn Moore.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Roger Roof and Rev. Merritt Wentz.

Visitation will be held in the chapel following the service.

Kenneth Charles Therrell
Union, SC


Mr. Kenneth Charles Therrell, age 38 passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2016.

Mr. Therrell was born in Rock Hill, SC September 26, 1977 a son of Beverly Wilson Browning of Munsey, IN and the late Daniel Ray Therrell, Sr.  He attended Lockhart High School and was formerly employed with TBA Construction.

Surviving are four daughters, Jordan Kirby, Aubrie Therrell, and Blaire Therrell all of Union and Kennedy Therrell of Jonesville; one son, Blaine Therrell of Oregon; two nieces, Hannah Harris and Ansleigh Moss; and one sister Cheyenne Harrison of Munsey, IN. He was predeceased by one brother, Danny Therrell.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Fuuneral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale.

Visitation will be held 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

Robert Cecil Lindler

Mr. Robert Cecil Lindler, age 79 husband of Jo Ann Tingle Lindler of 2822 Whitmire Highway, Union, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lindler was born in Whitmire, SC on October 9, 1936 a son of the late William H. Lindler and Magatha Young Lindler.  He was a graduate of Whitmire High School.  Mr. Lindler was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the U.S. Air Defense for 21 years.  He also retired from Carlisle Finishing as an expediter and was an electrician on the side.  Mr. Lindler was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where he was over the Men’s Brotherhood. 

Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years are two sons, Robert N. Lindler of Texas and Dennis Lindler of the home; one daughter-in-law, Denise Hogan of Union; three grandchildren, Michael Paul Lindler and wife Danielle, Amanda Burrell and husband Mark, and Sam Lindler; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca Lindler, Hallie Burrell, Derek Burrell, Wyatt Lindler, and Gabriel Lindler; a special niece, Evie Knight; and two brothers, William H. Lindler and Jim Lindler and wife Rita.  He was predeceased by one sister, Peggy Knight and one brother, Joe Lindler.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Brian Childers and Mr. David Sinclair.  Burial with full Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

The Hebron Baptist Church Adult Men’s Sunday School Class is asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held 2:30 until 4:00 PM Sunday prior to the services at the church.

Timothy Wayne Kingsmore

Mr. Timothy Wayne Kingsmore, age 66 of 3474 Cross Keys Hwy, Union passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at his home. He was married to Linda Duckett Kingsmore.

Mr. Kingsmore was born in Union, SC March 1, 1950, a son of the late Wayne Kingsmore and Mabel Elliott Kingsmore. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Bi-Lo following thirty-three years of service. Mr. Kingsmore was an avid golfer, a sports enthusiasts especially a big fan of Clemson and the Atlanta Braves.

Surviving are a two daughters: Lesley Elizabeth Kingsmore and Jessica Kingsmore Wood and husband Wenston; two sons: David Anthony Kingsmore and wife Amy and Tyler Adam Kingsmore and wife Ashley all of Union; six grandchildren: James Bailey Kingsmore, Thomas Bradon Kingsmore, Hannah Elizabeth Liner, Kayson Elliott Kingsmore, Levi Dixon Kingsmore, Rayna Marie Wood and a granddaughter soon to be born, Remi Kate Wood; a special great-grandchild due in April; two sisters: Janice Duckett and husband Larry and Sherry McCoy and husband Steve al of Union and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Stanley Elliott, Clayton Duckett, Brandon Boyea, Trevor Duckett, Colton Duckett, Davey Betenbough and Eric McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be the former members and golf friends of Mr. Kingsmore at Fairwood Country Club and River Chase Golf Club.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening, September 16, 2016 at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Virl Littlejohn, 91 died Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Palmetto Richland Hospital.  Mrs. Littlejohn was in the CM Tucker Nursing Center, Columbia, S.C., for the last 10 years suffering from Alzheimer’s.

A memorial service will be held September 20, 2016 at 1p.m. at the Holcombe Funeral Home Jonesville Chapel in Jonesville, S.C.  Interment will be in the Jonesville Memorial Gardens, Jonesville, S.C. immediately following the memorial service.

Virl Littlejohn was born in Gaffney, S.C. on February 28, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Jesse and and Jettie Dillinger.

Mrs. Littlejohn had five sons; R. Dennis Littlejohn and wife Susie of Brighton, CO; R. Dean Littlejohn and wife Colleen of Chester, S.C.  Randy Wayne Littlejohn (who preceded her in death) and wife Peggy of Chester, S.C. John Daniel Littlejohn and Timothy Littlejohn who also preceded her in death as infants.

Mrs. Littlejohn had eight grandchildren; Lisa Hawkins and husband Bruce of Northglenn, CO; Damon Littlejohn and wife Tracy of Irvine, CA; Angie Harlow and husband Ronnie of Searcy, AR; Kelly McLaren and husband Sean of Columbia, S.C.; Jodie Crouch and husband Tommy of Chester S.C.; Wendy Littlejohn of Chester, S.C.; Tonya Wilks and husband of Chester, S.C.; and Shawn Littlejohn and wife Melissa of Chester, S.C. and she had 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Miss Lisa Nan Ward, age 57 of 1408 Main St., Buffalo, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016.

Miss Ward was born in Union, SC May 4, 1959 a daughter of Joyce Johnson Ward Hall of Buffalo and the late Kenneth “Nip” Ward.  Lisa was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop University with a B.S. Degree in Education.  She taught at Union Middle School, coached softball at Union High School.  She, Pap Valentine and their teams won back to back State Championships in 1983 and 1984.  Miss Ward previously worked for the County of Union in the Public Works Department.  She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her step-father Bobby Hall of the home; one brother, Ken Ward and wife Colene of Union; two nieces, Ashton Ward of Union and Kensley Ward of Lexington; three nephews, Houston Ward, Justin Ward, and Tycen Ward all of Union; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Johnny Burgess and Rev. Lynn Ford.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Ward, Ernell Johnson, Neal Elliott, Christopher Kendrick, Steve Ward, and Phillip Ward.  The following are asked to form the honorary escort, Bruce Morgan, Donnie Betenbaugh, Jimmy Burton, Maxie Reynolds, Mickey Gist, and Pap Valentine.

Mr. Michael Gene Kirby, age 67, husband of Gail Kirby of Smyrna passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016.

Mr. Kirby was born in Union, SC August 27, 1949 a son of the late Paul Gene Kirby and Dorothy June Chesser Kirby.  He was a graduate of Union High School and the University of South Carolina.  Mr. Kirby owned his own business and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Kimberly Kirby Barton and husband Benjamin of Athens, GA; one son, Ashley Kirby and wife Merrilee of North Charleston; one step daughter, Lisa Tamaye and husband Justin of Darien, CT; one step son, James Manos of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Mary Ann Neal and husband Bobby and Teresa Kirby all of Rock Hill; one grandson, Kai Kirby of North Charleston; two step-grandchildren, Lukas Tamaye and Jace Tamaye both of Darien, CT; and two nephews, Robert Neal and Patrick Neal both of Rock Hill.  In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Paul and Ruby Kirby and his maternal grandparents, Seaborn and Belle Chesser.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Josh Freeman.

Mrs. Martha Leverne Blitchington Grant, age 55, wife of Larry Allen Grant, of 338 Shaman Rd., Blacksburg, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at her home. 

Mrs. Grant was born in Union, SC on August 29, 1961 a daughter of the late Edward Blitchington and Beatrice Henderson Blitchington.  She was a 1982 graduate of Burns High School in NC.  Mrs. Grant was formerly employed with Robert Allen Group in Gaffney and was currently employed with Adidas in Spartanburg.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a step-daughter, Sheila Depner and husband Joe of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Doshia Diane DuPree of Inman, Carrie Jones of Union and Patricia Blitchington of Union; one brother Charles Blitchington of Union; one sister-in-law Rita Miller of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by one sister, Margie Brooks and one brother, Clarence Blitchington.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Wayne Cooke.

Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Hagan Berry, age 83, of 309 W. Hillcrest Ave., Union passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Berry was born in Union, SC November 27, 1932 a daughter of the late Lewis Joseph Varner and Salley Elizabeth Treadway Varner.  She was a graduate of Union High School and the University of South Carolina.  Mrs. Berry was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.  She was first married to the late John David Hagan, Jr. and then the late Heber Berry.

Surviving are one daughter, Lynn Hagan Meador and husband Gene of Summerville, SC; one son, John David Hagan, III of the home; and numerous cherished friends.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dr. Don McCutcheon.

Mr. Paul Dean Williford, age 75, husband of Margaret Dawkins Williford of 113 Osborne St., Monarch, passed away, September 9, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center of natural causes.

Mr. Williford was born in Union, October 8, 1940, a son of the late Paul Williford and Christine Williford Bradford.  He was an all sport athlete at Union High School and after graduation attended Clemson University.  Mr. Williford was a retired electrician and owner of Williford Electric. He was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and was also a former Mason.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters, Camela Williford Jordan and husband Foster of Chapin, Darlene Ivey Frank of Union, Priscilla Ivey Craig and husband Ronnie and Lisa Ivey Duncan all of Clinton, a foster daughter, Taylor Sumner of Union; three sons, Paul Dean Benton and Robin Benton both of Greenville and Russell Todd Williford and wife Cathy of Union; a sister, Lisa Funderburk and husband Darrell of Rock Hill; a brother, S.W. Williford and wife Joan of Hickory, NC; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Williford was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Candler.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert and his cousin, Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be sons, and grandsons: Russell Williford, Nathan Williford, Kevin Frank, Jay Ivey, Dean Benton, Christopher Jordan, Blake Bright and Nick Monroe.

Mr. Shope was born in Union, March 23, 1960, a son of the late Russell and Ruth Reynolds Shope. He was employed with Standard Textiles in Union.

Mrs. Corrie Brewington Vaughan, age 87, of 126 Fairforest Heights, Buffalo, widow of Harold L. Vaughan passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Cross Keys, SC, May 22, 1929, a daughter of the late James Bilbey Brewington and Amy Comer Brewinton.     

She was retired from Wallace Thomson Hospital and was a member of West Springs Baptist Church where she was active in the Sunday School Department.

Surviving are five daughters, Pam Faucett and husband Tracey, and Polly Champion all of Union, Tammy Riley and husband Mike and Gail Hyatt of Jonesville and Mary Rawl of Buffalo; a brother, Lee Brewington of Union, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Vaughan was predeceased by a son, Clarence Champion.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2016 at West Springs Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Greg Black and Rev. Henry Johnson. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the graveside.

Mrs. Crawford was born in Spartanburg, SC a daughter of the late Edward Brackins and Alice Sprouse Brackins.  She was graduate of Pacolet High School and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, James “Jimmy” Crawford, Jr. and wife Kim, Jerry Crawford and wife Carol, Joey Crawford, and Jeff Crawford and wife Heather all of Union; four sisters, Ethel Morgan, Bertha Harold, Thelma Edge and husband Bill all of Pacolet, and Betty Lou Hutt of Union; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by one sister, Nancy Brock and one brother, Jimmy Brackins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Mark Truitt.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Elbert Stone Felder, age 69 husband of Karen English Felder passed away Monday, September 5, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
           
Mr. Felder was born in Union, SC on February 9, 1947 a son of the late Duncan Stokes Felder and Mary Allen Stone Felder.  He was a graduate of Union High School and Wofford College.  Mr. Felder retired from the State of South Carolina and was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard.  He was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a step daughter, Michelle Yeargin and husband Blandon of Chesnee; two sisters, Susan Godshall and husband Ed of Atlanta and Mary Connor Felder of Simpsonville; three grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and a beloved pet dog, Bristol.  He was predeceased by a brother, Duncan Stokes Felder, Jr. and an uncle Elbert W. Stone.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Jeremy Johns.

Mrs. JoAnne Harris Gregory, age 75, wife of James “Jim” Gregory of 1936 Walnut Grove Rd., Roebuck, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice House.

Mrs. Gregory was born in Union, SC on January 12, 1941 a daughter of the late Roy Harris and Mabel Riggs Harris.  She was retired as Secretary of First Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. Gregory was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served in various leadership positions.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a great nephew, Brandon Seay of the home; a sister, Kathy Horne and husband Bill of Walnut Grove; two sisters-in-law; six nieces; one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased two brothers, Harold Harris and Gerald Harris.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church in Pauline conducted by the Rev. Chris Collins.  Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

Mr. Julian Monte Stanford, Jr., age 61, husband of Tammy Lindler Stanford of 113 Bridle Trail Lane, Union, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Stanford was born in Spartanburg, SC November 4, 1954, a son of the late Julian M. Stanford, Sr., and Helen Sanders Stanford. He was a 1973 graduate of Union High School and the University of SC-Union. Mr. Stanford was a former machinist at INA Bearing and owner and operator of Diversified Pest Control. He was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, a Shriner and a life member of the Union Masonic Lodge #75. Mr. Stanford was a former member of BPO Elks and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Keri S. Adams and husband Jason; two sons: Jake Stanford and Sean Stanford and wife Amy all of Union; a mother-in-law, Clydie Mae Lindler of Union; seven grandchildren: Joshua Kason Adams, Collin Blake Adams, David Oneal Stanford, Ansli Stanford, Kenzie Stanford, Kalei Stanford, Kensleigh Turner, Tyler Howse and Madilyn Howse; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and a cousin. He was predeceased by a son, Nick Stanford.

Mr. Richard J. “R.J.” Crocker, age 89, of 180 Crocker’s Campground Rd., Union, widower of Donna Lee Crocker, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Crocker was born in Union, SC on May 9, 1927 a son of the late James Monroe Crocker and Carrie Gregory Crocker.  He was a graduate of Union High School and was a retired carpenter.  Mr. Crocker served in the Merchant Marine Corps and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Catherine L. Crocker and fiancée Frank Duncan of Union and Cory House of Spartanburg; four sons, Richard Crocker of Union, Douglas Crocker of Roebuck, Christopher Crocker of Rock Hill, and Jamie Crocker of Union; one brother, Frank Crocker of Spartanburg; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Alfred Crocker, Ralph Crocker, and Ed Crocker and one sister, Louella Bikle.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2016 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Guy Langston. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.

Mrs. Eloise Henderson Keith, age 81, widow of Cecil R. Keith, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Keith was born in Cherokee Co., December 28, 1934, a daughter of the late Boyce and Belle Motts Henderson. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three children, Lynn Gaines of Jonesville and another daughter and son; four grandchildren: Michael Gaines and wife Amanda, Scott Heatherly and wife Dana, Cassie Gaines and Patty Gaines; and four great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Heatherly, Ashley Heatherly, Grayson Heatherly and Bricen Gaines. Mrs. Keith was predeceased by a daughter, Patty Lavonia Keith and two brothers, Tom Henderson and Dennis Charles “D.C.” Henderson.

A memorial services will be held for Mrs. Keith by the family at a later date.

Mrs. Mae Collier Price, age 94, of 332 Dillard Rd., Enoree, widow of James H. Price, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Price was born in the Snow Bird mountains of North Carolina, November 7, 1921, a daughter of the late David and Ora Thompson Collier.  She worked all of her life and was very dedicated to causes she believed in. Mrs. Price lived to see six generations of her family grow and was known for her sweet disposition and bright smile. She was first married to the late Albert Lodannite Deputy.

Mrs. Price was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by five daughters, Charlene Hollis of Conover, NC, Rita Crump of Morganton, NC, Alice Faye Davis of Union, Trula Rawlings of Richland TX, and Rosemary Price of Enoree; one son, James H. Price, Jr. of Roswell, NM, and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Price was predeceased by four sons, Henry Deputy, Noah Donald Deputy, Larry Wayne Deputy and James Vadis Price and one daughter, Janie Evans.

A memorial service will be held by the family at 2:00 PM Monday, September 5, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Rosemary Price, 334 Dillard Rd., Enoree.
