Jimmy Dean Eaves
Union, SC

Mr. Jimmy Dean Eaves, age 72, husband of Kathryn Cromer Eaves of 4758 Lockhart Hwy., Union, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at his home.

Mrs. Eaves was born in Union, January 22, 1935, a son of the late Paul and Syble Morris Eaves. He was retired after 45 years from Lockhart Power as a lineman. Mr. Eaves was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Mary Ruth Vanderford Sunday School Class, had served as president of the United Methodist Men and was a past member of the Administrative Board of the church. Mr. Eaves was also involved in various other community activities.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters: Donna Massey and husband Mike, Lynn Vaughan and husband Jimmy, Sara Ann Franklin and husband Duane and Trudy Stegall and husband Eric; four sisters: Laura Comer, Catherine "Kitty" Vinson, Essie Vinson and Ann Sprouse; one brother: Weldon Eaves; 8 grandchildren: Mica and Joelle Massey, Betsy and Jay Vaughan, Montana, Karla and Reid Franklin and Ashlee Stegall; three special friends: Mike O’Dell, Brian Stalnaker and Robert Palmer. Mr. Eaves was predeceased by a son: Joel Dean Eaves, brothers: Bill, Ralph, Ed, and Herbert Holmes Eaves, sister: Mary Sybil Eaves, a granddaughter: Carly Bentley Franklin.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rickey Blake, Steve Rogers, Joel Vaughan, Bruce Parker, Danny Comer and Ronnie Eaves.

The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 PM Wednesday to form the honorary escort: employees of Lockhart Power, members of the Mary Ruth Vanderford Sunday School Class, Mr. Eaves’s nephews, Dr. Robert Wentz, Bill and Marie Cassaday.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Marguerite K. Bradley
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Marguerite Kirby Bradley, age 84, of Peach Orchard Rd. Union, widow of Harold V. Bradley, Jr. died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bradley was born in Union, October 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Hydrick and Virginia B. Kirby. She was a 1939 graduate of Union High School, received her BS degree from Winthrop College and an M.ED degree from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Bradley retired after 40 years as a teacher and administrator in the education field. She was selected as the Distributive Education Coordinator of the Year in the state, selected as a Master Teacher for Union County and was the first person inducted into the Union County Educators Hall of Fame. Mrs. Bradley served as principal of the Berry Vocational Building which she designed, and retired as assistant principal of Union High School. Recognized by many in the educational field as one of the best and fairest disciplinarians, Mrs. Bradley was nicknamed by the students as "two-day Bradley" for her rules of suspension. She was inducted in 1979 to the Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

A civic minded person, Mrs. Bradley was retired from the Technology and Career Center Advisory Board after serving 20 years and volunteered with the Red Cross, American Cancer Society and served as Head of the Commercial Division of United Way. She was one of eight people who brought Union Services, a workshop for mentally and physically challenged people, to Union County and served as president of the first advisory board of the Dept of Special Needs. Mrs. Bradley was appointed by the governor to the 16th Judicial Circuit Boss Care Review Board serving Union and York Counties for several years.

Mrs. Bradley was a dedicated member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the Pearl Sanders Sunday School Class. She touched the lives of many people, young and old during her life with her numerous acts of care and concern.

Surviving are a son : Dr. Pete Stone and wife Terri of Saluda, SC; one brother: H.L. "Jack" Kirby, Jr. and wife Jane of Hendersonville, NC; a grandson: Hydrick Kirby "Rock" Stone, Jr. and wife Jennifer and great-grandson Luke Stone all of Mt Pleasant, NC; a sister-in-law: Pearl Kirby and niece, Beth Kirby and nephew, Wilson Kirby all of Union. Mrs. Bradley was predeceased by a brother: Harold W. "Noot" Kirby .

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM Thursday at Mon Aetna Baptist Church all conducted by Rev. Benny Green and Rev. Paul Rogers.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Dunlap, Harold Lawson, Aubrey Adams, Carol Alexander, Sr., Jim Ross, James Guy Sample, Walker Knox and Carol Alexander, Jr.

James R. Fowler
Woodruff, S.C.

Mr. James Russell "Jim" Fowler, age 47, husband of Tami Queen Fowler of 250 Georgia Queen Dr., Woodruff, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 after an almost three year struggle with cancer.

Mr. Fowler was born in Union Co., December 26, 1959 a son of Barbara Johnson Black of Union and James T. Fowler of Kyle TX. He graduated from Jonesville High School in 1978 during which time he was employed with Milliken Co., Monarch Plant. He was the youngest loom technician to have ever been trained by Milliken completing the course at the age of 16 after beginning work the previous year as a cloth doffer. Jim continued to work in the textile industry during his attendance to Wofford College. After graduating Wofford in 1983, with a degree in Government and Political Science, he chose a career in textile management with Milliken and Co. For the past 14 years, Jim was employed by Inman Mills and Co. At the Mountain Shoals Plant in Enoree, SC. During this time he was proudly surrounded by a world class organization with first class associates. Jim was a member of the Tucapau Baptist Church in Startex, SC, for the last 11 years where he found his greatest joy and peace. He was also a member of the Reidville Masonic Lodge # 102 for the past 9 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, mother, father and his family of Kyle TX, are a daughter who was his greatest happiness: Alana Lea Fowler of the home; a sister: Carla Meredith of Clover; a brother: Robert D. Howell and wife Paula and their three daughters: Anna, Brooklyn and Rebecca all of Duncan; a brother: Derek Black and wife Jo Nell and their son Shane of Clinton; paternal grandmother Willa Mae Fowler of Union. Jim was predeceased by his step-father, Franklin D. Black; maternal grandparents, William and Ada Johnson and paternal grandfather James B. Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Tucapau Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bill Pate and Rev. Aubrey Calvert. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Judith Lee "Judy" Johnson, age 52 of Short St., Union, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

Ms. Johnson was born in Abbeville, SC, March 11, 1955. She was the daughter of the late George and Lucille Kitchens Johnson.

Surviving are a sister, Renae Richey of Seneca; a brother: Michael Coffee of Newton, NC; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; 5 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew.

Mrs. Virginia O’Shields "Jenny" Boulware, age 75, widow of Gilbert Boulware of 257 Gin Circle, Buffalo, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the home of her daughter after a brief illness.

Mrs. Boulware was born in Laurens Co., November 13, 1931, a daughter of the late Hervey and Maggie Riddle O’Shields. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and attended New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters: Joyce Sinclair and husband James, Margie Goins and husband Howard, Janice Ashmore and husband Stan all of Buffalo and Susan Turner and husband Roy of Union; two sisters Margaret Lanford of Spartanburg and Laura Carnelle of Woodruff; one brother: Edward O’Shields of Union; 6 grandchildren: Amy Griffith and husband Wayne, Jennifer Allen and husband Jeff, Jessica Sinclair, Matthew Turner, Gina Turner and Lorin Ashmore; 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob Griffith, Katelin Griffith, Levi Allen and Noah Allen. Mrs. Boulware was predeceased by a brother: J.D. O’Shields.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Robert James Mitros
Union, S.C.

Mr. Robert James "Bob" Mitros, age 83, of 1053 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Mitros was born in Grand Rapids, MI, September 20, 1923, a son of the late Walter F. Mitros, Sr. and Katherine Wrobteski Mitros. Mr. Mitros was a retired Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army having served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a prison of war held in Korea for thirteen months. Afterwards he served in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Army and with the Secret Service during John F. Kennedy’s presidency. Mr. Mitros was also retired as payroll manager with United Merchants, Union and Buffalo Mills and most recently was a greeter with Wal-Mart as long as his health permitted. Mr. Mitros served as a Boy Scout Master with Union Co. for a number of years.

Surviving are two cousins: Jim Scrobot and Tommy Scrobot both of MI; two nieces: Kathy Hardin of Blythewood, SC and Susan Stanfield of PA; a nephew: Pat Mitros of Seneca; two chosen children: Mary Puckett of Buffalo and Edward Clark of the home; 6 chosen grandchildren: Justin Franklin, Robert W. Clark, Hannah Mary Louise Clark, Edward W. Clark, Jr., Wendy Puckett, and Kenneth Puckett. Mr. Mitros was predeceased by a brother: Walter Mitros.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 15, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Genola Seymore Alexander, age 85 of 249 Lee Cemetery Rd., Whitmire, SC, widow of Frank Alexander died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Whitmire, SC November 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Luther Seymore and Anna Rochester Seymore. She was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church where she kept the nursery for over twenty years.

Surviving are: a daughter: Sandra Jenkins of Whitmire; a son, David Alexander and wife Donna of Union; a sister: Minnie Lou Shields; two brothers: Russell Seymore and wife Gerry all of Whitmire and Martin Seymore and wife Hattie of Union; three grandchildren: Darrell Jenkins, Michael Alexander and Jessica A. Maynard; four great-grandchildren: Karly, Kerry and Kymberlee Jenkins and Hunter Maynard.

Mrs. Margaret Buice Fowler, age 88, widow of Eugene "Buck" Fowler formerly of Buck Fowler Rd., Jonesville, SC died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Jonesville, SC November 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Lewis Buice and Leatha Holder Buice. She retired from Conso Products and was a member of Gilead Baptist Church. Mrs. Fowler was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors are two daughters: Hazel Sue Randolph and Ruth Bentley and husband Robert; two sons: Harold Fowler and wife Frankie and Paul Fowler and wife Carol all of Jonesville; eight grandchildren: Dean Randolph, Deborah Scarborough and husband Tommy, Delayne Seay and husband Jim, Michele Burnett and husband David, Greg Fowler and wife Tina, Jason Fowler and wife Pam, Dawn Gault and husband Jeff and Robbie Bentley and wife Tammy; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruth Adams Jeter, age 87, widow of Little Berry Jeter, III, formerly of Santuck, died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Jeter was born in Adamsburg, July 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Bessie Charles Adams. She was a graduate of Limestone College and was a retired school teacher having taught for 33 years in the Ottaray/ Monarch School. Mrs. Jeter also known as "Mama Ruth" was a member of Cane Creek Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was a former member of the Choir. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gama, Prime Time, the Santuck Club and the Good Neighbor Garden Club.

Surviving are two daughters: Judy Shaw, wife of the late Billy Shaw of Santuck, and Jane J. Pegram and husand Kenneth of Concord, NC; a daughter-in-law: Mrs. George Davidson Jeter wife of the late Little Berry Jeter, IIII of Whitmire; 2 grandchildren: Allyson Shaw Ayers and husband Mark of Santuck and Adams Jeter and wife Cheryl of Whitmire; three great-grandchildren who were Mrs. Jeter’s heartstrings: Brett Allen Ayers, William Austin Ayers and Berri Alizabeth Ayers all of Santuck.

Mr. Jimmy A. Martin, age 56, of 108 Longview Heights, Union, SC died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the home of his daughter.

Mr. Martin was born in Winnsboro, SC July 14, 1950, a daughter of Ida Belle Huff Martin and the late James Archie Martin. He was a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Orangeburg, SC.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter: Carrie Cothran Martin of the home; three brothers: Bert Martin and wife Kathy of Gilbert, SC, Walker Martin of Orangeburg and Keith Martin and wife Rhonda of Irmo and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Addis Cook, age 52, wife of Warren "Rocky" Cook of 478 Bruce O. Wilson Rd., Union, SC died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Cook was born in Union, SC May 19, 1955, a daughter of Joyce White Addis of Union and the late W.S. Addis. She was a graduate of Union High School, was formerly employed with Milliken & Company- Cedar Hill Plant and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters: Samantha C. Lee and husband Harold and Jennifer C. Brannon and husband Timmothy; two brothers: Raymond Addis and wife Jo Ellen and Robin Addis all of Union and four step-grandchildren: Stacey Lee, Chesney Lee, Taylor Lee and L.J. Lee.

Mike Southard

Mr. Mike Southard, age 54 of 158 Log Circle Waterloo, SC died at his home at 1:48 P.M. Saturday, June 16, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Deborah Smith Southard of the home.

Mr. Southard was born in Union, SC June 20, 1952, a son of the late Ernest Southard and Dorothy Hollingsworth Southard. He was a graduate of Union High School and attended Business College. He retired from Cone Mills, Carlisle Finishing Plant where he was employed for 28 years in management. Mr. Southard was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church of Laurens SC, a Shriner in Greenwood and Laurens, a life member of Union Masonic Lodge #75, a member of Classic Car Club, and Good Guys Antique Car Club.

He was the loving father of: Gene Smith of the home, Brandy Smith of Buffalo, Latrisha Beyers of Union, and Wayne Southard of Union. He is also survived by a grandson, Phillip Southard of Union, his mother-in-law: Jean Smith Stewart and husband: Rufus of Pauline, SC. Mr. Southard was predeceased by his father-in-law: Bobby Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 18, 2007 at New Prospect Baptist Church (4996 Hwy. 221 South, Laurens) conducted by Rev. J.B. Abercormbie and Rev. John Huckaby. Burial with Masonic Rite will be held at 4:00 PM at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery (Hwy. 215, Buffalo SC).

Mr. Raymond Dewey Dimsdale, age 75, loving companion of 32 years to Virl Dillinger Littlejohn of 406 Brown’s Creek Rd. Union, died at his home, Sunday, June 17, 2007.

Mr. Dimsdale was born in Startex, SC, November 14, 1931, a son of the late Fleming Dewey Dimsdale and Lily Millwood Dimsdale. He was retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant.

Surviving are his wife Guynell Burrell Dimsdale of Pacolet; one daughter: Mary Edwards and husband Phillip of Pacolet; three sons: Raymond Dewey Dimsdale, Jr of Spartanburg, Bo Dimsdale and wife Jodi and Calvin Dimsdale and wife Charlene all of Jonesville; one sister: Mildred D. Blackwell of Spartanburg; 34 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Dimsdale was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Dimsdale Knighten.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dennis Tessner.

Mrs. Joyce Ann West, age 68, formerly of Boyce Street, Union, SC, husband of Homer Lee West died Monday, June 18, 2007 at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill, SC.

Mrs. West was born in Union, SC September 7, 1938, a daughter of the late James Edward Puckett, Sr and Corrie Bevis Puckett. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters: Barbara Ann Wolfe and husband Paul of Pauline, Donna Gail Holcombe and husband David and Brenda Lee West and Fiancee George Buchanan all of Union; a sister, Connie Knox of Buffalo; three brothers: James Puckett, Jr of Buffalo, Thomas Edward "Eddie" Puckett of Spartanburg and Roy Puckett of Union, four grandchildren: Chris Harris, Adam Harris, Britany Holcombe and Dylan Holcombe. Mrs. West was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers: Mildred Puckett, Jenny P. Beard, Harold, Gene, Ralph and Troy Puckett and a grandchild, Jeremy Holcombe.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 21, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Andrew Collins. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Margaret Arnold Jeter, age 83 of 239 Senate Street, Santuck Community, Union, SC, widow of Richard Parham Jeter, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Jeter was born in Woodruff, SC May 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Bryson Arnold and Lois Lesslie Arnold. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and retired as a Home Economics Teacher with the Union County School System. Mrs. Jeter was a member of Cane Creek Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School for over forty-five years. She was a member of Sigma Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, a former member of the Union Cotillion Club, Friends of the Library, the Woman’s Study Club, the Criterion Book Club and the Santuck Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Caroline Melton and husband Dr. Loyd Melton of Laurens; a son, Robert A. "Bob" Jeter and wife Teresa of Greenville; a brother, Thomas Lesslie Arnold of North Augusta and five grandchildren: Elizabeth Melton White and husband James, John Andrew Melton, Robert Parham Jeter, Samuel Paul Jeter and Jack Dempsey Jeter.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Jeter Family Cemtery conducted by Rev. Robert Gant and Dr. George McGill.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Union, SC October 9, 1917, a daughter of the late Mardis H. Eaves and Louise Gault Eaves. She retired from Milliken & Co-Excelsior Mills and was a longstanding member of Unity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Louise Garner and husband Jack and Catherine England and husband Arnold all of Union; a son, Thomas T. Kelly and wife Pat of McBee, SC, six sisters: Ollie Chambers of Greer, Waleanor Kirby and Judy Bright both of Union, Miriam Gregory and Donnis Knox both of Jonesville and Marilyn Silay of Yorktown, VA; three brothers: Lawrence "Buddy" Eaves, James "Cotton" Eaves and Wayne Eaves all of Jonesville; ten grandchildren: Jack T. Garner, Libby Allison, Jamison England, Bronson England, Melissa Gallman, Sherrie Murphy, Beranda Johnson, Dewey Kelly, Gail Brown and Arnold England, Jr. and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kelly was predeceased by a sister, Meynelle Jennings, a brother, Thomas Eaves and Kenneth Eaves and a stepmother Pearl Eaves Ford.

Mrs. Alice Georgeanna Ingle "Doll" Jolly age 78, 125 Toney Rd., Union, SC, widow of Roy Chandler Jolly died Friday, June 22, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Jolly was born in Ft. Mill, SC May 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Harvey Ingle and Joanna Estep Ingle. She was full time homemaker and a devoted mother and wife. Mrs. Jolly graduated from Union High School and was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where she was a former G.A. Leader and Sunday School Teacher of the Young Adults Sunday School Class.

Surviving are two daughters: Joann Mills and husband Terry of Mooresboro, NC and Patty Coleman of Union; two sons: Roy C. Jolly, Jr of Union and Terry Jolly and wife Lynda of Garden City, SC; two sisters: Betty Epps and Mary Phillips both of Union; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Larry Padgett and Rev. Jerry Ford. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Juanita Barkley Womack, age 99 widow of Edmund L. Womack, died June 13, 2007 at the Terraces of Los Gatos in California.

She was born in Wallace, Virginia, a daughter of the late William Burgess Barkley and Achsa Hunt Barkley. She was a former worker with the Census Bureau in Maryland.

Surviving are two daughter: Elizabeth W. Davis and husband Paul of Union and Christine W. Morris of California; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Terraces of Los Gatos in California.

Mrs. Willa Mae Morris Fowler, age 90, formerly of Monarch, widow of James B. Fowler died Friday, June 22, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Fowler was born in Union, SC December 7, 1916, a daughter of the late Douglas Leroy Morris and Calla Lilly Smith Morris. She retired from Conso Products and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.

Survivors are three sons: Harold Fowler and wife Judy, Kenneth Fowler and wife Barbara all of Union and James Fowler and wife Melinda of Kyle, Texas; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by an infant son Freddie Wayne Fowler, five brothers: Boyce Morris, Charles Morris, Billy Morris, Wilbur Morris and Otha Buck Morris and a grandson James R. Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Williams was born in Union, SC May 17, 1939, a son of the late Jeffie Davis Williams, Sr and Myrtle Stewart Williams. He retired from Milliken & Co - Cedar Hill Plant after fifty-two years. Mr. Williams was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church where he was a former Usher.

Survivors are two daughters: Tammy Gault and husband Ed of Michigan and Kaye Johnson and husband Randy of Union; a son, Nicholas Williams and wife Shanna of Union; two sisters: Lillie Mae Jackson of Enoree and Faye Lee of Jonesville; a grandson, Kyle Hicks reared in the home and six other grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams was predeceased by five brothers: Johnny Williams, Danny Williams, Jackie Wayne Williams, Terry Williams and James Earl Williams.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Eddie Sexton.

Mr. John A. Willard, age 69, husband of Lillie Faye Tucker Willard of 1883 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Pauline, SC went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He died peacefully at his home with his family gathered around him.

Mr. Willard was born May 20, 1938, a son of the late Hoyt Henderson Willard and John Willard. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era and retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty-one years of service. Mr. Willard was formerly employed with Milliken & Co. in Union and was a faithful member and worker of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church until his illness.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are two daughters, Joy and Angel Frost of the home; two sisters: Shirley Ballachey of Idaho and Patrica Frost of Union; three brothers: Gillford Willard of California, Griffrin Willard of Conway and John "Scooter"Willard of Anderson and a step-son, Robert Queen of Buffalo, three step-daughters: Claudia Q. Crook of Blacksburg, Kathy Q. Richardson of Jonesville and Jeanette Q. Gregory of Clinton; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mr. Willard was predeceased by his first wife Helen Q. Willard and a brother, Billy Willard.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2007 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Randy Pettit and Chaplain Jim Johnson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Allen T. Greene

Allen T. Greene, age 88 of Union, SC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2007.

Allen was born on January 9, 1919, in Union, SC, to Mary Palmer Greene and Marshall Greene. He spent his entire life in Union and attended Union County schools. Allen joined the US Navy during World War II serving aboard the USS Lander Auxiliary Personnel Attack Ship. He served in the waters off Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the war, he returned to Deering Milliken, Ottaray Mills, where he was employed as chief electrician, a position he held for 24 years. When the plant shifted from cotton cloth production to knitting in 1970, he became electrician in knitting, working there until his retirement in 1981.

He was a life long member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and was baptized there on June 2, 1935. Allen served as a Deacon, for numerous years, at a church he loved with all his heart. He was chairman of the property committee for many years, and was on the building committee that constructed Morningside Baptist, a mission of Mon-Aetna. He was also on the building committee that constructed Mon-Aetna’s new sanctuary in 1977, was secretary of his Sunday School class for many years, and was one of the volunteers that helped build Ottaray Baptist Church.

Allen is survived by his loving wife, of 67 years, Hazel Vanderford Greene; three daughters, Barbara G. Pruitt (husband Randall Pruitt) of Spartanburg, SC, Linda G. Wade, (deceased husband, Donald Wade) of Union, and Margie G. Candler (husband Larry Candler) of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, of whom he was very proud: Mitzie Thorne (husband Todd Thorne), Kristen Taylor (husband Barry Taylor), Eddy Wade (wife Sandra Wade), Paul Candler, Davis Candler, Susan Candler and great-grandsons, Chase and Tanner Thorne and Clayton Taylor.

A celebration of life service will be held at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Bennie Green and Rev. Dale Lynch. Interment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Vanderford, Ronald Leonhardt, Bobby Vaughan, Donald Hyder, Maurice Hyder and Harold Eubanks. The following are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 PM to form the Honorary Escort: Tom Alexander, Curt Simmons, Fred and Addie O’Dell, Frank Greene, Armel and Lib Revels, Pearl Crocker, C.D. Mrs. Angela Joy Littlejohn Hoag, age 46, wife of Kenneth Hoag of 200 McPherson Street, Union, SC died Saturday, June 30, 2007 suddenly at her home.

Mrs. Hoag was born in Union, SC December 10, 1960, a daughter of Imogene Fowler Littlejohn Hewitt of Union and the late Thomas W. "Bill" Littlejohn, Jr. She was a graduate of Union High School and was formerly employed with the Dairio as Assistant Manager with Reese O’Dell for eighteen years. Mrs. Hoag was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two sons: Shane Keith Goings and wife Stephanie and Clinton M. Goings all of Union; a step-son: Justin K. Hoag of Chester; three brothers: Bruce E. Littlejohn and wife Teresa, Robbie D. Littlejohn and wife Wanda and Jeffrey L.
