Faye G. Nelson
Jonesville, S.C.

Mrs. Faye Garner Nelson, age 89, widow of Dallas L. Nelson, Sr., of 315 Haile St., Jonesville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Nelson was born in Kelton, May 10, 1929, a daughter of the late James G. “Jim” Garner and Lillie Lois Mae Sanders Garner. She was a graduate of Kelly-Pinckney High School and was retired from Jonesville Elementary School and Jonesville High School where she worked in the library. Mrs. Nelson was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Cathy N. Orr of the home and Judy N. Weatherford of Winston-Salem, NC; a son, Dallas L. Nelson, Jr. and wife Donna Crocker of Chapin; one grandson, Nelson Trent Weatherford and wife Ashley of Wake Forest, NC; two great-granddaughters, Holden and Emmy Weatherford; and a special niece, Mary Alice Wade of Union. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Billy Weatherford; two sisters, Ruby G. Sanders and Hilda G Proctor; and two brothers, Aubrey Garner and William Roy Garner.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cannon. Burial will follow at Jonesville Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Smitty Smith, Darrell Addis, Barry Moss, Ronnie Garner, Keith Vanderford and Jim Gregory.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday at the church prior to the services.

The family will be at the home, 315 Haile St., Jonesville.

Edith Loudermilk Quinn
Union, SC

Mrs. Edith Loudermilk Quinn, age 91, of 296 Meansville Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Quinn was born May 26, 1927 in Section, AL, a daughter of the late Edly Loudermilk and Ulmer Harkins Loudermilk.  She was a retired textile worker.  Mrs. Quinn was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two sons, Larry J. Quinn and wife Joan and Jerry A. Quinn all of Buffalo; a daughter-in-law, Terri Quinn Crowell of Shelby, NC; seven grandchildren, Amy Quinn Ford and husband Cleve and their children, Caylin and Mackensie, Robert E. Quinn, Jr. and wife Crystal and their child, Courtney Allen, Nicole Quinn McGrady and husband Robby and their child Natalie, Jennifer Quinn Foster and husband Brad and their children, Kirsten and Gunner, Alan Quinn and wife Lauren and their children, Nathan, Katie and Mason Henderson and Alexis Dawkins, Hannah Quinn Marner and husband Dwight and Heather Quinn Edwards and husband Anthony; she was predeceased by one grandson, Shane Quinn and is survived by his children, Chase, Tyler, and Alyssa; she is also survived by numerous great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by one son, Robert E. Quinn.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday. January 16, 2019 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Mr. Robby Quinn.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Alan Quinn, Robby Quinn, Robby McGrady, Brad Foster, Cleve Ford, and Zachary Smith.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

John “JT” Vinson
Lockhart, SC

Mr. John Thomas “JT” Vinson, age 67 of 117 Red Rd., Lockhart Community, Union, widower of Kathy Walker Vinson, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Vinson was born in Union, SC June 6, 1951, a son of the late Ernest Vinson and Josie Spiller Vinson. He retired from Cone Mills and was a member of Lockhart Free Will  Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons: Chad Vinson and wife Stacie of Union and Danny Vinson of Lockhart; two grandchildren: Kaycie Vinson and Emma Vinson  of Union; four sisters: Betty Kelly and husband Eddie of Union, Becky McAbee of Clinton, Kathy Henderson of Union and Frances Ansley  of Augusta, GA and a special cousin, Garrett Gibson of Union. Mr. Vinson was predeceased by a sister, Pat Billingsley and two brothers, Bobby Vinson and Louis Vinson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Sam Baine and Rev. Delos Blanton. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Ray Lindsey, Steve Gibson, Lee Brannon, Logan Vanderford, Joey Allen and Robert Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Inman and the Coffee Crew of Lockhart One Stop.

Visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday in the church prior to the service.

Harold Loyd Thompson
Union, SC

Mr. Harold Loyd Thompson, age 81, of 119 Baber St., Union, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019.

Mr. Thompson was born November 27, 1937 in Union, a son of the late Eddie William Thompson and Pearl Kathleen Horne Thompson.  He was retired as a self-employed painter.  Mr. Thompson was of the Baptist Faith.  He was lovingly called “Guitar” and was involved most of his life in music playing the guitar and was an original member of the Horseshoe Music Club.

Surviving are four sons, Lynn Thompson of Union, Ricky Thompson of Greenwood, Robert Thompson of Rock Hill, and Gerald Thompson of Rock Hill; two sisters, Louise T. Grady and husband Sonny of Cross Keys and Shirley T. Lancaster and husband James of Union and three grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one sister, Dot T. Robinson and four brothers, Ralph Thompson, Fred Thompson, Eddie Barney Thompson, and Bobby Thompson.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bob Cato.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

The family is at their respective homes.

James “Jim” Greer Wilson
Union, SC

Mr. James “Jim” Greer Wilson, age 65, devoted husband of Teresa S. Wilson of 105 Chelsea Ct., Union, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Wilson was born in Union, September 16, 1953 a son of the late Charles W. Wilson, Sr. and Nina Greer Wilson.  He was a 1971 graduate of Union High School, a 1972 graduate of Spartanburg Community College, and a 1976 graduate of Clemson University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology.  Mr. Wilson was retired from the Union County School System where he was an Instructor at the Vocational School and had been active in the Athletic Department for many years.  He was an active member of Sardis United Methodist Church where he had previously served as chairman of the Pastor Parrish Committee and on the Administration Council.  Mr. Wilson was a former City Councilman and former Lions Club Member. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Catherine Wilson and Jennie Wilson, both of Union; a step-son, Brad Duckett and friend Malesa Benton of Union; a sister, Beth Wells and husband Donald of Union; a brother, Charles W. Wilson, Jr. and friend Edelyn Moore of Union; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two nephews, Donnie Wells and Charles W. “Chas” Wilson, IV.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer and Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be John Rampey, Tim Mitchell, Ed Greer, Kevin Morrow, Frank Pennas, and Paul Greer, II.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mayor Harold Thompson, City of Union Council Members, and the Faculty of Union County High Vocational School.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Annie Belle Clayton
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Annie Belle Belue Clayton, age 84, of 4242 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy., Union, widow of Lewis Lee Clayton, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Clayton was born in Union Co., August 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Harold and Annie Wynona Gault Belue. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are three daughters, Patti Hall of Spartanburg, Cathy Dillard and Linda Clayton both of Union, two sisters, Deloris Clayton and husband Sam and Blanche Blackston and husband Doug all of Union; three brothers, Drexel Belue and wife Carolyn of Sharon, Johnny Belue and wife Carolyn and Pete Belue and wife Jean all of Union; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 7, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Steve Lemons. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Parris, Jeff Clayton, Kenny Clayton, Jacob Hall, Macey Price and Maggie White.

Visitation will from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday at the chapel prior to the services.

Mack Eugene Vanderford, Sr.
Union, S.C.

Mack Eugene Vanderford, Sr, age 85, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 5, 2019.  He was a patient in Hospice Care at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. 

Mr.  Vanderford was born in Union County on January 16, 1933. He was predeceased by his wife, June Hendrix Vanderford, and was the son of the late Pete and Jennie Candler Vanderford.   Mr Vanderford was of the Christian faith, and was saved by the Grace of God through the birth, death and resurrection of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for his sins.  Mr. Vanderford confessed, professed, and accepted this blessing from God the Father.  He attended Lockhart Schools and was self-employed as a wholesale automobile dealer.  Mr. Vanderford began his career as an employee of the General Motors Company in Flint, Michigan where he assembled motor vehicles for General Motors.  His passion in life was always centered on his friends and clients in the wholesale auto business, and he was a friend to many.  He was compassionate and helpful to individuals in need.

Surviving are a daughter, Vicki Vanderford Howell of Adamsburg, and, a son, Mack Eugene "Gene" Vanderford, Jr. and wife Cynthia Sloan Vanderford of Landrum; nine grandchildren: Casey Scott Watkins and his wife Monica Inman Watkins of Union; Jonathan Sloan Vanderford and his wife Kylie Allen Vanderford of Campobello; Sarabeth Vanderford Bennett and her husband Charles Gabriel Bennett  of Wellford; Takafumi Arai and his wife Yuka Arai of Tokyo, Japan; and Itsumi Matsuura of Yokohama, Japan; five great-grandchildren: Andrew James Inman and Cohen Grant Watkins of Lockhart; Sadie Marie Vanderford, Mack Sloan Vanderford, and Jonah Allen Vanderford of Campobello; Rosamae Ruth Bennett of Wellford; and, Joe Arai of Tokyo, Japan.   He is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Shirley Hendrix Ham and Ann Greer Hendrix of Union, and Phyllis Hendrix Stanley and husband John Stanley of Ontario Canada.  In addition, Mr. Vanderford is survived by 11 nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Danny Howell, a great-granddaughter, Bella Reece Watkins; three sisters: Kathleen Revels, Sally “Pid” Palmer, and Vernell “Doodie” Vanderford; and, one brother, Clarence “Buddy” Vanderford. 

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens, 1720 Whitmire Highway, Union, South Carolina 29379 by Rev. Terry Rainey of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, and Ms. Donna Belcher Fowler of Campobello.  The family will be receiving friends at the graveside immediately following the graveside service (rather than at their homes).  Thank you to all friends for respecting our private time to reflect on our loved one at this difficult time.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Music Ministry, 373 Wesley Chapel Rd., Union, SC 29379.

The family also expresses heartfelt gratitude to the SRMC 4th Floor RN's, CNA’s and Housekeeping Staff as well as his Case Worker and Palliative Care Coordinator for their sincere concern for and medical attention to Mr. Mack.

Nancy W. Brewington

Mrs. Nancy West Brewington, age 56, wife of Rickie Don Brewington of 137 Hilltop View, Union, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Brewington was born in Union, November 5, 1963, a daughter of the late John N. West and Hazel Ruth Hall West. She was formerly employed with Conso Products of Union and was a member at Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Richie N. Gregory and wife Stacey of Union, two sisters, Johnnie Heatherly and husband Steve of Buffalo and Rhonda Lewis and husband D.J. of Gastonia, NC; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Brewington was predeceased by a son, Robbie Gregory and a daughter, Rhonda Gregory.

A memorial service will be held at the home of Johnnie Heatherly, 121 Harley Dr., Buffalo, 3:00 PM Thursday January 3, 2019 conducted by Rev. Neil Keisler.
