Deborah Ann Eubanks Haney

Mrs. Deborah Ann “Debbie” Eubanks Haney, age 64 of 728 Hawkins Rd., Union, widow of Ronnie Haney, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Haney was born in Wilson, NC January 4, 1954, a daughter of the late Harold E. Eubanks, Sr. and Betty Sutton Eubanks. She was a graduate of Union High School and was employed as a CNA with Spartanburg Regional Oncology Unit. Mrs. Haney was a member of Greater Union Church.

Surviving are a brother, Hal Eubanks and wife Janet; five grandchildren: Alayna Monroe, Claire Monroe, Mallerie Knox and husband Tate, Bailey Quinn and Kylie Knox; nieces and nephews: Monica Quinn and husband Walter, Chad Monroe and wife Brandi, Curtis Eubanks and wife Denise, Ed Eubanks, Tina Eubanks and Mike Eubanks and two great-nephews, Drew Harvey and Alex Harvey all of Union. Mrs. Haney was predeceased by a sister, Brenda Monroe and a niece, Christie Ochiltree.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Greater Union Church conducted by Rev. Roger Estes. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Kirby, Curtis Eubanks, Bobby Hall, Timmy Hollingsworth, Terry Hollingsworth and Robbie Jones.

Visitation will be held 1:30-3:00 PM in the church prior to the service.

Amanda Rose Thomason

Miss Amanda Rose Thomason, age 41 of 761 Bentley Town Rd., Union, passed away Saturday February 17, 2018 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.

Miss Thomason was born in Union, SC October 25, 1976, a daughter of Charles Lynnwood Thomason and Marshall Messer Thomason of Sharon. She was employed with River Mart in Lockhart and attended Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two daughters: Shelby Marie Gibson and Shyann Rose Gibson of Union; a fiancée, Jamie Gibson of Union and two nieces, Alyssa Thomason and Savannah Thomason of Chester. Miss Thomason was predeceased by her brother, Charles Lee Thomason.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Lockhart Freewill  Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Sam Baine. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rusty Thomason, Luke Thomason, Roger Thomason, Justin Larson, Ronnie Thomason and Ricky Simon.

Visitation will be held 1:00- 2:00 PM Thursday in the church prior to the service.

Carson Wade Sprow

Carson Wade Sprow, the President and founder of International Mortuary Shipping LLC, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2018.  Mr. Sprow was a United States Army Combat Veteran (February 1979-August 1989), serving as a proud United States Army Ranger, 2d Bn, 75th Infantry, and an instructor in the Florida Phase and Desert Phase Ranger School during his final five years of service.  He attended the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, Houston TX and graduated in 1990, summa cum laude. During his career, Mr. Sprow taught Restorative Arts in the Piedmont Technical College Mortuary program and served as Preceptor for students completing the internships required for licensing. Mr. Sprow also co-authored the Standard Operating Procedures for identification of human remains through prosthetics and orthodontics with the late Dr. Tony Manoukian, Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Hawaii. The SOP was first used following Hurricane Katrina and later adapted for use by other disaster organizations.

Mr. Sprow was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the South Carolina Coroner’s Association and Association of Latin American Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. He was a Board Member of the Greenville Symphony and a supporter of the Terrier Club of Wofford College. Mr. Sprow was a member of the Spartanburg Rotary Club, a Mason, and an avid Carolina Panthers fan. Mr. Sprow was known for his boundless energy, generosity, booming laugh and sharp wit as well as his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. 

Mr. Sprow is survived by his wife, Gale Plotkin Sprow, who resides in Union, South Carolina, and his brother Carl Sprow. He was pre-deceased by his son, Wade Sprow, his mother, Connie Williams and his father, Carlton Ward Sprow.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, 310 West South Street, Union SC with burial to follow on Thursday, February 22 at 11:30 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Joretta Dickerson “Jojo” Smith

Mrs. Joretta Dickerson “JoJo” Smith, age 86, of 1020 Thompson Blvd., Union, widow of John Clifton Smith, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was born May 12, 1931 in Union, SC a daughter of the late William Meadow Dickerson and Pearl Dickerson.  She retired from Union Mill.  Mrs. Smith was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she had previously worked in the nursery and was a choir member.

Surviving are one son, Boyd William Smith and wife Patricia of Union; two grandchildren, Jason Scott Smith and wife Joy and Farrah Smith of Union; three great-grandsons, Ryder Gregory, Justin Littleton, and Jordon Smith all of Union; and one great-great-granddaughter, Alexis Smith of Union.  She was predeceased by two brothers, Bill Dickerson and Frank Dickerson and one sister, Betty Sue Jones. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Mark Truitt.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.  

Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Misty Michelle Betenbaugh, age 43, of 621 Sardis Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018.

Misty was born July 5, 1974 in Union, SC a daughter of John Roper “Johnny” Betenbaugh and Wanda Payne Reynolds both of Union. 

Surviving in addition to her parents are one brother, John Michael Betenbaugh of Union and two daughters, MaKayia Betenbaugh and Amyia Betenbaugh both of the home. 

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2018 at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer and Pastor Roosevelt Marsden.

Janie Elliotte Lancaster Kelly

Mrs. Janie Elliotte Lancaster Kelly, age 92, wife of Billy Kelly of 557 Gist Bridge Rd., Buffalo, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Kelly was born in Buffalo on June 13, 1925 a daughter of the late Jessie R. Lancaster and Rhoda Gowan Lancaster.  She was a graduate of Pauline High School and retired from Sears of Union.  Mrs. Kelly was an active member of Putman Baptist Church where she was on the Benevolence Committee, Sunday School, and the Senior Citizens Group for over 66 years and as long as her health permitted.  She enjoyed yard work with her flowers and family fishing trips.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Jean Smith of Boiling Springs; two granddaughters Christi Yeatts and husband Jason and Kim Smith all of Boiling Springs; and one great-granddaughter, Julianna Yeatts of Boiling Springs.  She was predeceased by one daughter, Frances Rebecca Brown; one sister, Maggie Carolyn Garland; and two brothers, George Martin Lancaster and Phelix W. Lancaster.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Tommy Mann and Rev. Ted Hodges.  Burial will follow at Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Garland, David Garland, Gregory Lancaster, Jason Yeatts, Lewis Lancaster, and Scott Lancaster.

Randy Monroe Medford

Mr. Randy Monroe Medford, age 79, husband of Linda Goforth Medford of 1317 S. Jonesville Hwy., Jonesville, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Medford was born in Buffalo on November 20, 1938 a son of the late James Garland Medford and Ila O’Shields Medford.  He retired from the Union County School District as a woodshop teacher and master carpenter.  Mr. Medford had also worked with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and the South Carolina Housing Authority.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army Reserves as a Master Sargent having served in Desert Storm.  Mr. Medford was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his wife are, one daughter, Melony Medford Warner and husband Charles of Jonesville; two sons, Jeffery Amos Medford and wife April of Ninety-Six and Randy O’Neil Medford of Greer; an adopted son, Lewis Lesesne Scott and wife Libby of Jonesville; four grandchildren, Elise Cline, Savannah Medford, Katie Medford, and Coleman Medford; one great-grandson, Noah Grimes; a step sister, Marlene Eller Whitehead of Buffalo; and a step brother, Arley Eller of Buffalo; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by three brothers, Bruce Nelson Medford, James Garland Medford, Jr., Jerry Smith Medford and his step-father, James Garland Eller.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 at New Hope United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey and Rev. David Clyburn.  Burial with  Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.

Barbara Eubanks Vaughan

Mrs. Barbara Eubanks Vaughan, age 76, wife of Gerald Vaughan of 823 Brown’s Creek Church Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Vaughan was born in Spartanburg, SC June 22, 1941, a daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Eubanks and Mary Hutcherson Eubanks. She was a homemaker and a member of Brown’s Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Timothy Vaughan; three sisters: Virginia Blackmon and husband Buddy, Joyce Byrd and Faye Eubanks; a granddaughter, Amber Hyatt and five great- grandchildren all of Union. Mrs. Vaughan was predeceased by two brothers, Bruce Eubanks and Terry Eubanks.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Zandra Ann Tollison White, age 66, of 1554 Browns Creek Church Rd., Union, widow of Charles Glenn White passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Magnolia Manor, Spartanburg.

Mrs. White was born in Spartanburg Co., March 19, 1951, a daughter of the late William Eugene Tollison and Sara Godfrey Tollison.  She was retired from Wal-Mart in Union and  was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Charles White of the home and Marcus White of Union; a sister Sara Smith and husband Daryl of Gaffney; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Christine Solesbee and a special family friend, Danchize Wilson of Union.  She was predeceased by a nephew, Robby Lynch.

Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Mr. Jerry Gossett.  Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Friday prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Sr.

Mr. Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Sr., age 85, husband of Ellen Cornelia Corder Burkhalter of 118 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Burkhalter was born in Newberry, SC March 12, 1932, a son of the late Jesse Burkhater and Sara Finny Burkhalter. He was a retired textile worker and of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Burkhalter was a Veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War.

Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty years are three daughters: Sherry Templeton of Laurens, Patsy Gibson of Greer, and Theresa Burkhalter of Whitmire; three sons: William Burkhalter, Steven Burkhalter both of the home and Terry Burkhalter of Laurens; a special grandson, Daniel Corder of the home and fifteen other precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Mr. Burkhalter was predeceased by a son, Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Jr, two sisters and four brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Tony Dickertt. Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Mr. Burkhalter’s grandsons.

Mrs. Lavenia Knox Inman, age 84 of 903 Spartanburg Hwy, Jonesville, widow of Herbert Arthur Inman, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Union Medical Center.

Mrs. Inman was born in Union, SC April 13, 1933, a daughter of the late Roy Knox and Ruth Fowler Knox. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Jonesville Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria. Mrs. Inman was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church where she was a member of the Happy Heart as long as her health permitted.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are a two grandchildren: Tonya Horne Smith and husband Scott of Lockhart and Robbie Horne and wife Melanie with whom she made her home; three great-grandchildren: Emily Horne Vinson and husband Gene of Jonesville, Tayla and Raina Smith of Lockhart; two great-great-grandsons: Masen and Eli Vinson of Jonesville a niece, Rhonda Black and husband Allen of Union; a nephew, Darron Wix; a son-in-law, Gene Horne both of Jonesville and numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Mrs. Inman is predeceased by infant twins, Teresa Lou and Trina Lee Inman and a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Inman Horne.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Scott Cannon.

Visitation will be held 1:00-2:45 PM Wednesday at Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel prior to the graveside service.

Mr. James W. “Jimmy” Belk, Jr. age 77, husband of Judy Duncan Belk of 128 Pinewood Acres Rd., Union, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Providence Health Hospital.

Mr. Belk was born January 17, 1941 in Spartanburg, a son of the late James Willie Belk, Sr. and Fulton Bailey Belk.  He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church where he was a member of the Security Team.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 54 years are two daughters, Kim Belk Ballenger and husband Greg of Greer and Rhonda Belk Seaver and husband Rick of Huntersville, NC; one son, Chris Belk and wife Doris of Honolulu, Hawaii; one sister, Barbara Belk Kitchens of Union; one brother, Robert Lee Belk of Oregon; one granddaughter, Karson Fleming of Huntersville, NC; five grandsons, Jeff Ballenger of Greer, Justin Ballenger of Greer, Benson Fleming of Huntersville, NC, Tanner Belk of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kellan Seaver of Huntersville, NC; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Davis of Greer.  He was predeceased by one sister Mabel Belk Marshall.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Terry Parks Brown

Mr. Terry Parks Brown, age 67, husband of Joyce Gregory Brown of 203 Arthur St., Union, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Brown was born on February 19, 1950 in Union a son of the late Jessie Brown and Edna Parks Brown.  He was retired from Wal-Mart in Union and had previously worked at Cone Mill—Carlisle Finishing Plant.  Mr. Brown was of the Church of God Faith.  He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 1321.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter Tuesday Hill of Union; two step-sons, Gregory Ochiltree and Mark Ochiltree both of Union; one sister, Rebecca Smith and husband Carroll of Pauline; four grandchildren, Brad Ochiltree, Matthew Ochiltree, Genesis Hill, and Eden Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Bryant Ochiltree, Maura Ochiltree, and Lillie Ochiltree.  He was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.

Memorial Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, February 12, 2018 at the S.R Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. Neil Keisler. 

Members of the Rook Club and Members of BPO Elks Lodge 1321 are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas David Jenkins, age 54 of 221 E. Main St., Union, passed away February 7, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Jenkins was born in Union, November 13, 1963 a son of Nancy Knox Fleming of Union and the late William David Jenkins.  He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are two brothers, Ricky Jenkins and wife Debra of Union and Timothy Jenkins of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant brother, William Charles Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert and Mr. Gerald Gregory.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday prior to the services in the chapel.

Mrs. Alma Inman Valentine, age 82 of 200 E. Hillcrest Avenue, Union, widow of James E. “Pap” Valentine, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Valentine was born in Union, SC November 4, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph Smith Inman and Clara Holcombe Inman. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Ellen Sagar Nursing Center. Mrs. Valentine was a member of Union Church of God for over fifty years where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of Prime Timers.

Surviving are two daughters: Vickie V. Allen and husband Martin and Patty V. Jenkins; two grandchildren: Chris Allen and wife Mandy and Jennifer Lancaster; three great-grandchildren: Michael Lancaster, Kyleigh Allen and Abby Lancaster all of Union; two sisters: Jean Moore of Tampa, FL and Josie O’Shields of Union; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Valentine was predeceased by sisters, Cora Riddle, Maggie Teague, Hattie Gregory, Mattie Sue Vinson and Peggy Lee; brothers: Dan Inman, Laurie Inman, Charlie Inman, Rev. Bobby Inman Sr., and Joe Inman and two sons-in-law: Randy Harbin and Stan Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Union Church of God conducted by Rev. Stewart Anderson and Rev. Alton Stone. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Jackie Dean Bailey, age 78, husband of Janice Guinn Bailey of 4706 Jonesville Lockhart Hwy, Union, SC passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mr. Bailey was born in Lockhart, SC December 28, 1939, a son of the late Wilson Bailey and Eva Farr Bailey. He was a 1964 graduate of Wofford; retired from the Textile Industry and was owner of Bailey’s Grill. Mr. Bailey was a member of Lockhart First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Hejaz Shrine Temple, Lockhart Lodge #244.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-seven years are a daughter, Leisa Bailey of Lancaster, SC ; a son, Jeff Bailey and wife Kim of Union; five grandchildren: Aaron Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Kirk Barnes, Ashlei Barnes and Bailey Barnes; a brother, William Bailey of Greenville. Mr. Bailey was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Bailey.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Lockhart First Baptist Church conducted by Re. Delos Blanton. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Active pallbearers will be Joey Allen, Sammy Webber, Mike Vanderford, Barry Palmer, Tony Farr and Dale Inman. Members of the Adult II Sunday School Class are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Lockhart First Baptist Church.

Charner Thomas Scaife Inabinet, age 15, of Cross Keys Hwy., Union, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018.

Charner was born in Union, June 9, 2002 a son of Kacie Lawson of Union and Russell Inabinet of the home.  He attended Union Co. High School and was enrolled in the S.C. Connections Academy. Charner worked last summer for Sailors Asphalt and was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and mudslinging on dirt bikes and ATVs.

Surviving in addition to his mother and father are a half-sister, Abby Lawson of Jonesville; a half-brother, Christian Lawson of Jonesville; his paternal grandparents, James and Sara Inabinet of Union; his maternal great-grandparents, Ronnie and Brenda Lawson of Jonesville; and a number of aunts and uncles.          

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Jim Cunningham.

Active pallbearers will be Colby Gregory, Cole Rector, Mitchell Babb, Trevor Duckett, Nick Bryant, and Chase Stamper.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM prior to the services at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Joyce Ann Roberts Cooper age 58 of 218 Church St., Jonesville, widow of Carroll Wayne Cooper passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cooper was born in Union, September 23, 1959, a daughter of the late Charles and Joann Lipsey Roberts.  She attended Jonesville High School and retired after 23 years from Nestles in Gaffney.

Surviving are two daughters, Kelsi Faith Cooper and Carla Joy Cooper; a grandson, Tanner Wayne all of the home; one sister, Donna R. Knox; one brother, Timothy Gene Roberts both of Jonesville; and her companion, James Pettit of Union. Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by two brothers, Darrell Roberts and Charles “Punkin” Roberts.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel conducted by Rev. Randy Burgess. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:00 at the chapel prior to the services.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Donna R. Knox, 201 Hames Ave., Jonesville.

James Arledge Nichols, Jr.

Mr. James Arledge Nichols, Jr., age 58, died Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Woodward Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Hinson officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Woodward Baptist Church, 1570 Ashford Rd., Chester, SC.

Mr. Nichols was born May 25, 1959, in Union, SC, and was a son of Dorothy Smith Nichols and the late James Arledge Nichols, Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop University. Mr. Nichols was an Eagle Scout, a private pilot and a Pokemon professor. He was Director of York County Dept. of Social Services. Mr. Nichols was a member of Woodward Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, Dorothy Nichols of Union, he is survived by his wife Sheila Brunet Nichols; one son, James Arledge “Tripp” Nichols, III; two sisters, Kakie White (Sam) of Union and Tweedie Mills (Mike) of Winnsboro; and one brother, Skee Nichols of Union.

Mrs. Julie Smith Robinson, age 88 formerly of Buffalo, widow of Lewis Edward “Cordwood” Robinson, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at White Oak North Grove.

Mrs. Robinson was born December 3, 1929 in Buffalo a daughter of the late James Boyd Smith and Fannie Harrison Smith.  She was retired from Milliken & Co.—Monarch Plant.  She was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Mrs. Robinson was an avid flower gardener, she loved to fish, travel to the mountains, and was an excellent baker.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

Surviving are two daughters, Glenda Sutton (Blane) of Moore and Brenda Boyter (Mike) of Spartanburg; one son, Charles Edward Robinson (Debra) of Buffalo; five grandchildren, Erica Raeford, Cricket Palmer, Jesse Robinson, Kevin Sutton, and Keri Sutton; five great-grandchildren, Will and Ryan Raeford, Lexi and Jaxon Robinson, and Caylee Palmer; and her beloved Lab Diesel.  She was predeceased by seven brothers and four sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Kyle Caudell.  Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.

Joe Henry Burns

Mr. Joe Henry Burns, age 83 husband of Betty Roberts Burns, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mr. Burns was born July 24, 1934 in Hickory Grove, SC a son of the late Rufus Marion Burns and Lucille Burns.  He was retired from Milliken & Co—Lockhart Plant.  Mr. Burns was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church.  He had formerly served as a fireman with Lockhart Fire Department and had served on the board.  Mr. Burns enjoyed fishing and being on the lake.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are one son, Randall Burns and wife Deanna; two granddaughters, Tracy Cudd Vanderford and Ollie Virginia Burns; one great-granddaughter, Sydnie Vanderford; two sisters, Dolly Broome and Joyce Hardin; one brother, Glenn Burns; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Nickey Cudd.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Baine and Rev. Merritt Wentz.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the services at the church.

The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the nurses, staff and CNA’s of unit 2 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home for their love and care of Mr. Burns.
