Kathy Ann Fowler Martin

Ms. Kathy Ann “Nova” Fowler Martin, age 59, of 128 5th St., Union, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her home.

Ms. Martin was born in Union, December 12, 1960, a daughter of the late Lewis and Eva Mae Price Ray. She formerly worked in the textile industry and was a member of the Union Church of God.

Surviving are a son, Timothy “Bone” Fowler and Crystal Fowler Holcombe of the home; two sisters, Sara Garrett of Gaffney and Doris Rogers and husband Mitch of Union; two brothers, Dennis “Dinky” Fowler and wife Cheryl and Bobby Fowler of Union; two grandsons, Matt Sizemore and Chandler Sizemore; a granddaughter, Makenzie Holcombe; seven nieces and nephews, Chris, Brett, Joe, A.D., Monica, Kayce and Ashley and a special aunt, Mary Price. She was predeceased by a sister, Rosie Winzenried and a brother, Harold Fowler.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 122 5th St., Union, Fowler Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the home prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Mitch Rogers, Jimmy Medford, Caleb Revis, Devin Dyer, Adrian Winzenried and Joey Winzenried.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kathy Ann Martin Fund, P.O. Box 293, Union, SC  29379.

Mary Still Richards
Spartanburg, S.C.


Mrs. Mary Still Richards, age 66, wife of Fred Richards of 101 Sunnydale Circle, Spartanburg, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Richards was born in Spartanburg, December 6, 1953, a daughter of the late Mary Jo Littlejohn Boatwright and Levon Ponder. She retired from the Salvation Army as a manager and was a member of Manna Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Melissa Still and Tonya Still Brewington; a son, Johnny Still; two sisters, Vickie Horton and Kelly Davis; three brothers, Bobby Ponder, Mark Ponder and Ricky Dean Ponder all of Spartanburg. Mrs. Richards is also survived by four grandchildren, Mark Brewington, Jr., Cullen Still, Micah Cantrell and Hayden Brewington and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jonah Cantrell and two brothers, Barry and Terry Ponder.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Manna Baptist Church, 121 Flatwood Lane, Spartanburg SC, 29307, conducted by Rev. David Mattox, Rev. Danny Cannon and Rev. Johnny Horton. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Micah Cantrell, Cullen Still, Mark Brewington, Jr., Scott Ponder, Johnny Horton and Daniel Horton.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Saturday at the church prior to the services.

The family will be at their respective homes.


Betty Lou Sparks Fowler
Union, SC


Mrs. Betty Lou Sparks Fowler, age 89, of 139 Old English Rd., Union, widow of J.G. Fowler, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. 

Mrs. Fowler was born on April 18, 1930 in Union, a daughter of the late Charles M. Sparks and Mary Mayo Sparks.  She was retired from Sonoco Plastics and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Surviving are a grandson, Daniel Fowler of Chicago, IL; a granddaughter Jennifer Fowler; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her caregiver, Janice Smith of Union; and a sister-in-law, Paulette Sealy of Union.  She was predeceased by a son, Danny L. Fowler; a sister, Ferrol Bell, and a brother Harold Sparks.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Morningside Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Aulbrey Calvert.  Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Edward Sealy, Donnie Warren, Tim Hollingsworth, Todd Smith, Jimmy Lightner, and Gerald Gregory.  The Valerie Lowe Sunday School Class is asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

Mrs. Rita Sherrin Sumner, age 60, wife of Willie Edgar “Billy” Sumner of 117 Sunview Lane, Prosperity, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Sumner was born in Monroe, NC, October 31, 1959, a daughter of the late Claude and Lucille Deason Sherrin. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, Darryl Sumner and wife Susan of York; two brothers, Dale Sherrin and wife Sally of Kershaw and Kent Sherrin and wife Kathy of Denver, NC; a granddaughter, Tori Sumner and a grandson, Dalton Sumner both of York; two nephews, Scott Medlin and wife Kim of Prosperity and Hamp Sherrin and wife Cherlyn of Lancaster; a niece Renne Willis of Georgia along with several other nieces and nephews.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Wanda Gault Morrison

Mrs. Wanda Gault Morrison, age 61, wife of Randall W. Morrison of Union, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Morrison was born in Clinton, October 29, 1958, a daughter of the late Clarence D. “Sonny” Gault and Wilhelmina Harris Gault.  She was a graduate of Clinton High School and had previously worked as a CNA with Union Disabilities.  She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.  Mrs. Morrison was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and cared deeply for the patients she served. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters, Tracie Elaine Morrison of Atlanta, Stacie Elizabeth Morrison of Union and Laurin Nicole Chapman and husband, Justin of Union; a granddaughter, Autumn Nicole Wilson; a step-grandson, Jason Chapman; two brothers, Bryan Gault and wife, Carol Ann and Jody D. Gault and wife, Kristie all of Clinton; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant sister, Glinda Gault.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 27, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dr. Aubrey Calvert. The family will receive friends following the service. 

Pallbearers will be Tim Hollingsworth, Terry Hollingsworth, Richie Smith, Jason Reardon, Frank Morrison and Steve Byrd.      

The family will be at the home.

Linda Haney Weaver

Mrs. Linda Haney Weaver, age 72, wife of George Weaver, of 689 Bailey Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Weaver was born May 30, 1947 in Union, a daughter of the late James Thomas Haney and Ruth Elizabeth Lawson Haney.  She attended Union High School and was retired from the cafeteria at Buffalo Elementary School.  Her family was her greatest accomplishment.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Bradley S. Weaver and wife Amanda of Buffalo and Gregory S. Weaver and wife Lindzey of Union; a sister-in-law, Barbara Haney of Hawkins, TX; an aunt, Hilda Osborne of Buffalo; and four grandchildren, Jessica S. Weaver of Buffalo, Bryson J. Weaver, Nathaniel S. Weaver, and Colton R. Weaver all of Union.  She was predeceased by a brother Thomas E. Haney. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Kevin Dalton.  Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.  

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. Don Wayne Cody, age 60, husband of Donna Smith Cody of 112 Hillcrest Dr., Union, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019.

Mr. Cody was born in Union, April 22, 1959, a son of the late Frank Douglas Cody and Jacquelyn Wilburn Cody. He was a graduate of Union High School and was employed with Littlejohn, Inc., as a warehouse manager. Mr. Cody was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a recreation leader of the AWANA Club and loved mentoring the young men of this group. He was also a member of the choir and the Wilbur Smith Sunday School Class. Don was a loving husband, father and soon to be grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kayla C. Bishop and husband Alton of Union; a sister, Lisa Lee and husband Mike of Charlotte; a brother-in-law, Ricky Smith and wife Amy of Union; a nephew, Brett Smith and wife Shayla and a niece, Brooke Smith all of Union. He is also survived by his in-laws, William and Jo Carol Smith and a special cousin and caregiver, Elaine Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn and Jason Spencer. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens where the family will receive friends after the committal.

Pamela T. Williamson
Jacksonville, FL


Pamela T Williamson passed away on December 13, 2019 at age 55, after 7 years of battling metastatic breast cancer. She passed away in Jacksonville, Fl.

Pam was born on December 12, 1964 in Union, Sc. She attended Spartanburg Technical College before finishing her degree in Jacksonville after marrying in 1985 to the love of her life. She worked for 30 years as an X-Ray technologist at both Baptist and Memorial Hospital. She loved the Carolina Gamecocks and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pam enjoyed arts and crafts especially crochet and cross stitching and gifting her work to friends and family. Her favorite time of year being Christmas for giving gifts.

She is survived by her children Jonathen Williamson and Kayla(Roxy) Dover. Her sisters Karen(Steve) Coker and Dawn Thompson. Her parent-in-laws Raymond C (Sandra) Williamson Sr, and sibling in laws. Wanda Williamson, Mary Lou Dallmann, and Bill (Kelly) Williamson. Her two cats Ariel and Sassy will miss her very much. She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is proceeded in death by her loving husband Raymond C Williamson Jr, her parents Bill and Dot Thompson, and brother in law Dale Dallmann Sr.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Haley Dianne Teaster Putnam, age 27, of 118 Sharon Dr., Gaffney, wife of Christopher Putnam, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Spartanburg, February 17, 1992, a daughter of Scott and Dawn Teaster of Gaffney and Leigh Chandler Parker of Spartanburg. She was formerly employed with Plygem Industries and attended Rehobath Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents and husband are two daughters, Aleeyah Putnam and Karrigan Putnam and a son, Jaxon Bayne all of Gaffney; a sister, Amber Horton of Florida; two brothers, Cory Bradley of Colorado and Brannon Parker of Spartanburg; her paternal grandfather, David Bradburn of Gaffney and her maternal grandmother, Dianne White of Spartanburg. She was also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins including, Cheyenne Teaster, Gerald “June Bug” Alman, Jr. and Dustin Lister. Haley was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Gail Kirby.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Alvin Joe Brackett. Burial will be at Skull Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Thursday at the chapel prior to the services.

Mrs. Bessie Jennings Duncan, age 82, wife of Raymond Duncan, Sr, of 511 Lakeview Heights, Union, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 14, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Duncan was born in Union, SC April 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Herman Jennings and Clara Prince Jennings. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class. Mrs. Duncan had been very active in the work and building of Ottaray Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving in addition to her husband of sixty-four years are two daughters: Tammy Knox and husband Gettys of Spartanburg and Beth Hawkins and husband Jimmy of Union; a son, Raymond Edward Duncan, Jr and wife Rhonda of Union; a brother, Billy Jennings of Pauline; six grandchildren: Tripp Duncan and wife Mica of West Springs, Brandy Duncan of Laurens, Nikki Knox of Advance, NC, Heather Franklin and husband Rev. Lee Franklin of Pacolet, Kacie Gillespie and husband Michael of Wilmington, NC and Colby Hawkins and wife Ashley of Spartanburg and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Duncan was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM  Monday, December 16, 2019 at Ottaray Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Franklin and Rev. Dr. Ron Culberson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Tripp Duncan, Tanner Duncan, Colby Hawkins, Michael Gillespie and Rev. Lee Franklin. Nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice and the home caregivers are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Monday in the church prior to the service.

Miss Annie Mae Gibbs, age 88 of 207 South Boyce Street, Union, passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 at Woodbridge Senior Living, Spartanburg, SC.

Miss Gibbs was born in Union, SC June 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Luther Norman Gibbs and Bessie Marie Noland Gibbs. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Union County Senior Citizens. Miss Gibbs had formerly worked at Efird’s Department Store, McClellan’s Dime Store and was the caregiver for her sisters. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and a worker in the Infant Nursey for many years.

Surviving are a sister, Barbara Gibbs Smith and husband Ralph of Buffalo; nieces and nephews: Luther G. Arthur, Robert J. Arthur, Amy A. Kosanovic, Paulette Arthur, Bernice B. Inman, Michael R. Smith and Susie Smith; a number of great nieces, great-nephews and number of great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Miss Gibbs was predeceased by four sisters: Betty G. Burgess, Jane G. Arthur, Maria G. Arthur and Ella Faye Gibbs; a niece, Linda Lou Arthur; a nephew, Jimmy Arthur and a great-niece, Regina I. England.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Vaughn and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burail will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Phillip Smith, Jeremy Gallman, Torance Inman, Jay Coffer, George Faucette and James Coffer. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry and Tina Stevens, Donna Lugo and Caregivers of Cresent Hospice.

Jennie Lynn Mixon Knox
Union, SC


Mrs. Jennie Lynn Mixon Knox, wife of Tommy F. “Tom Tom” Knox, II of 947 Webber Lake Rd., Union, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family and special friends, Friday, December 13, 2019 at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Mrs. Knox was born in Florence, SC February 19, 1970, a daughter of the late William H. Mixon and Jeanette Walters Mixon. She was a graduate of Union High School and was employed as a dental hygienist for Dr. William Webber as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Knox valiantly battled Diabetes most of her life and dearly loved her dog, Georgia. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Tate Knox and wife Mallerie of Union; two grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Kylie Knox and Wesley Knox; father-in-law, Tommy F. Knox; a sister-in-law, Melinda Littlejohn and husband Jeff; a niece, Miranda Littlejohn and a nephew, Lee Littlejohn and wife Tiffany. Mrs. Knox was predeceased by her sister, Regina Mixon and her mother-in-law, Dianne Knox.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge and Robbie Littlejohn.

Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.

Peggy Petty Mullinax

Mrs. Peggy Petty Mullinax, age 79, wife of Stephen F. Mullinax of 1044 Oak Creek Dr., Spartanburg, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Mary Black Hospital.

Mrs. Mullinax was born December 31, 1939 in Jonesville, a daughter of the late Dewey W. Petty, Louise Vaughn Kirby and Neal Kirby.  She was a graduate of Jonesville High School, Spartanburg Junior College, and Limestone College.  Mrs. Mullinax received her master’s degree from the University of South Carolina and was a retired Elementary School Teacher.  She held many leadership roles in high school, college, and as an educator.  Mrs. Mullinax was May Queen at Spartanburg Junior College in 1960, she was a member of Alpha Alpha Alpha Sorority and Alpha Beta Epsilon while in college.  She was a former member of the Union Junior Charity League.  Mrs. Mullinax enjoyed playing the piano and collecting antiques.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Blair Mullinax of Spartanburg and Stephen F. Mullinax, Jr. of Boiling Springs; a special nephew, Adam Petty of Union; two brothers, Dewey “Cooter” Petty of Union and Thomas Kirby of Knoxville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two brothers, William “Billy” Petty and Ronald Kirby.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted Rev. Dustin Madala.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vicki Happerfield Nash, age 67, of 1210 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, widow of James “Eddie” Nash, passed away, Monday, December 9, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Nash was born July 15, 1952 in Union, a daughter of the late Frank Happerfield and Virginia Harmon Happerfield.  She was a graduate of Union High School and retired as bookkeeper from the Union County Supervisor’s Office.  Mrs. Nash was a loving mother and Nana.

Surviving are two daughters, Nicole Phillips and husband Sam of Greenville and Haley Nash and Trent Wetmore of Union; a sister, Cheryl Morris and husband Steve of Union; three grandchildren, Kayleigh Lawson, Kaitlyn Lawson, and Camron Wetmore; a nephew Brad Morris and wife Leah and their daughter, Julian of Columbia; and her beloved pet yorkie, Max.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, December 13, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Bill Randall.  Visitation will be immediately following the memorial services.

Linda McClellan Williams

Ms. Linda McClellan Williams, age 74, formerly of Whitmire, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at White Oak Manor at North Grove in Spartanburg.

Ms. Williams was born in Whitmire, September 7, 1945, a daughter of the late Claude M. McClellan and Dorothy Kitchen McClellan. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and was active in the Whitmire Senior Citizens group and Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are a daughter, Dottie Adams of Union; four sisters, Gayle Stamper and husband Bill of Charleston, Kathy McClellan, Jane Vaughan and friend Lynn Gladden, and Sally McClellan all of Union; a brother, John Ray McClellan of Union and two grandsons, Tristen Brock and Rydder Bevis both of Union. Ms. Williams was predeceased by her special fur baby, Precious.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Robbie Stollger. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel prior to the services.

William Jackson Vinson
Union, SC


Mr. William Jackson “Jack” Vinson, age 90, of 634 Brown’s Creek Rd., Union, husband of 71 years to Sara Sinclair Vinson, crossed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on December 8, 2019 after an extended illness.

Mr. Vinson was born on March 10, 1929, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Mamie Mitchell Vinson. He attended Kelly Pinckney School and retired after 49 years will Milliken and Co. He also retired after 10 plus years from the Union County Recycling Center.

Mr. Vinson was a faithful and devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church where he previously served as Deacon and Usher. He was a fantastic, loving and exceptional Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, Uncle, Friend and “Pa”. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength and devotion to his family and all who knew him.

Mr. Vinson served in the South Carolina Army National Guard and the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Brenda V. Reid of Myrtle Beach and a son, William “Wayne” Vinson and special friend, Patsy Gibson of Union. He has five grandchildren, Angela E. Reid, Sandy L. Reid and Paige R. Raszman of Myrtle Beach, and Timothy W. Vinson and wife Celia and Monica L. Vinson of Gaffney. He has seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Jake Vinson and wife Olie Mae and H.A. “Buck” Vinson and a number nieces and nephews. Mr. Vinson was predeceased by a son-in-law, Jimmy W. Reid, sisters, Corrine V. (Nanzetta) Hart and Gertrude V. (Herman) Duckett and brothers, Jeff (Cleo) Vinson, Tom (Zora) Vinson, J.E. Vinson and a sister-in-law, Bessie Vinson.

A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 9, 2019 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ross Wilson and Rev. Bob Cato. Burial will be at Brown’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Steen, Timothy Vinson, Bird Ivey, Steve Wix, Wade Lee Hart, Donnie Horne and Robin Duckett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Vinson’s nephews and past and present Deacons of Fairview Baptist Church. Caregivers with Hospice Care of South Carolina are asked to sit in a group.

Ms. Rebekah Lucille Price Free, age 77, of 196 Parks Farm Rd., Jonesville, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at her home.

Ms. Free was born in Campobello, June 7, 1942, a daughter of the late L.S. and Bertha Higgins Price. She was a member of Gilead Baptist Church and worked as a caregiver to the elderly for over 20 years. Ms. Free loved gospel music and making crafts especially during the Christmas season.

Surviving are a son, Randy Spencer and wife Dawn of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Kinsleigh Spencer, Kayleigh Spencer and Nevaeh Going; three sisters, Hazel Thompson, Faye Vinson and Carolyn Abee all of Jonesville; three brothers, Lloyd Price and wife Ruth of Little River, SC, Frederick Price and wife Diane of Clayton, NC, and Gene Price of Valdese, NC; a sister-in-law: Pat Price of Kings Mountain, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Free was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Lyda and Ruth Price and a brother, Bud Price.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 9, 2019 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday at the church prior to the services.

Margaret “Tutti” Sheorn
Union, SC


Mrs. Margaret Smith “Tutti” Sheorn, age 92, of 108 Eastwood Ave., Union, widow of Wiley “Buddy” Sheorn, Jr., passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Sheorn was born in Union, February 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Douglas James and Nina Sexton Smith.  She graduated from Union High School and Limestone College where she majored in Social Work. She retired from Union County Schools and was very involved in the lives of her students many of whom were special needs.  Following her father’s death she and her family carried on the family business, Smith Lumber Company.  Mrs. Sheorn was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Union Cotillion Club, Critierion Book Club and enjoyed being a member of several bridge clubs.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was an active member of David Clyburn Sunday School Class.  Mrs. Sheorn’s children and grandchildren feel blessed to have had Tutti’s physical love and support.  Now they feel blessed to have her spiritual presence watching over them. 

Surviving are a daughter, Susan  Patrylick and husband, Jerry of Durham, NC; a son, Wiley “Trip” Sheorn, III and wife, Betsy of Union; four granddaughters, Megan Patrylick Mathis  and husband, Madison of Charleston, Amy Brannon and husband, Michael, of Durham, NC, Taylor Patrylick of Durham, NC, Caroline Snijders and husband, Eric of Columbia; a grandson, Drew Sheorn and wife,  Lauren of Kannapolis, NC; a great-great granddaughter, Blythe Sheorn and a great-great grandson, Beau Sheorn. She was predeceased by a son, Doug Sheorn and a brother, Doug Smith, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. David Bauknight.

Visitation will follow the service in the Ladies Parlor of Grace United Methodist Church.

Ms. Patti Davis Whitmire, age 57, of 107 Corn St., Union, passed away Friday, December 6, 2019 at her home.

Ms. Whitmire was born October 17, 1962 in Union, a daughter of Jackie Orr Davis of Union and the late Bobby Davis.  She was a graduate of Union High School.  Ms. Whitmire was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.  She loved her family, her daughters, and her granddaughters, who say to know her was to love her.

Surviving in addition her mother, are two daughters, DeAnn Cody and husband Brandon and Bailey Burris and friend Cash Gault, all of Union; two granddaughters, Braylyn and Bentley Cody; a brother, Jay Orr of Boiling Springs; two nieces Mackenzie Orr of Boiling Springs and Daniela Robbins and husband Travis of Pacolet; a cousin, Tammie Connolly and husband Song of Tampa, Fl; an uncle Joe Orr and wife Joanne of Key West; special friends, Kim Youngblood and Amanda Sweatt of Union; and a beloved fur baby “Daisey.”

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Morningside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Aulbrey Calvert.  Visitation will be held after the services at the church.

Mr. Freddy Lee Loftis, age 63, of 986 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, husband of Wanda Gresham Loftis, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Loftis was born in Anderson, March 8, 1956, a son of the late Fred B. Loftis and Frances Evans Loftis.  He graduated from Westside High School in Anderson and was retired after 36 years with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.  He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.  Mr. Loftis was a loving Husband, Father and Papa.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a “daughter”, Hailey Gresham, reared in the home and her fiancé, Nick Davis; a grandson, Riley Joel Davis, of the home; a brother-in-law, Wayne Gresham and wife Andrea of Union; a niece, Alexis Gresham; two nephews, Wayne Gresham II and Tyler Gresham and wife, Donielle; a great niece, Bristol Gresham and a great nephew, Colt Gresham all of Buffalo; and a “brother”, George Faucette and wife, Nancy of Shelby, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 6, 2019 at S.R. Holcombe Chapel conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb.

Members and former members of the South Carolina Highway Patrol and caregivers from Hospice Care of South Carolina are asked to sit in a group.

Mrs. Wilma Horne Belue, age 89, of 421 Pacolet St., Jonesville, widow of Calvin Belue, passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Belue was born in Jonesville, December 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Albert “Son” Horne and Ella Mae Horne. She attended Jonesville High School and was retired from S and S Manufacturing. Mrs. Belue was a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Jean Jenkins and husband Ronnie and Rita Sanders and husband Wayne all of Jonesville, Joan Crain and husband Richard of Spartanburg; a son, Dwight Belue and wife Kaye of Jonesville; a sister, Avenelle Harris of Jonesville; grandchildren, Greta Bailey, Adrienne Morgan, Judd Belue, and Drew Sanders; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Belue was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Horne.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Eddie Saxon.

Mrs. Kelly Paige Crocker Jones, age 46, wife of Mark Jones of 611 Brooks Road, Saluda, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Prisma Health, Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Jones was born in Union, December 25, 1972, a daughter of the late Ralph Donald “Donnie” Crocker, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cooksey Wilson. She was of the Baptist faith and formerly worked at Oakmont Nursing Home (Heartland) of Union.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a brother, Ralph Crocker, Jr. and wife, Joni, a sister, Shannon Crocker Gordon and husband, “Bruzz” and her mother-in-law, Jo Ann Stevenson.

Graveside services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale.  Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.

The family is at the home, 611 Brooks Rd., Saluda, SC 29138 and at the home of her brother, Ralph and Joni Crocker, 191 River Rd., Union, SC 29379.

Mr. James C. “Buster” Dabbs, age 88, husband of Ruth Ham Dabbs of 3915 Foster Dr. Sharon, SC. 29742 passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Dabbs was born in Lockhart, July 1, 1931, a son of the late L.J. Dabbs and Mary Justice Dabbs. He was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and formerly employed with Milliken and company-Lockhart plant. Mr. Dabbs retired with Charlie Walker Auto Sales.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Mary Thomas and husband Ron of Gaffney; a son, Dennis Dabbs and wife Sherryl of Boling Springs; two brothers, Olin Dabbs and wife Laura and Dean Dabbs all of Lockhart; a sister, Louise Meyers of Rutherford, NC; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mr. Dabbs was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Briggs.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Baine and Dr. Rev. Brian Stepp. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist church.
