Darrell G. Edwards, Sr.
Jonesville, SC


Mr. Darrell Glenn Edwards, Sr., age 55 of Jonesville, passed away December 30, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Edwards was born in Union, April 3, 1959, a son of Lillian Ogle Weathers of Jonesville and the late Manley Lewis Edwards.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a brother, Michael Edwards of Spartanburg and a son, Allen Michael Edwards.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown.

Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following the services.

The family will be at the home of his mother, Lillian Weathers, 523 Bobby Faucette Rd., Jonesville.

Matthew John “Matt” McKenzie
Pacolet, SC


Mr. Matthew John “Matt” McKenzie, age 45, husband of Sara Brown McKenzie of 104 Stonecrest Ct., Pacolet, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McKenzie was born in Union, on December 16, 1969 a son of Jane Zuchowski McKenzie of Union and the late Kenneth McKenzie.  He was a 1988 graduate of Union High School, a 1993 graduate of Lander University, and a 1995 graduate of Converse College where he earned his Master’s degree.  Mr. McKenzie was employed with the Union County School District, as a teacher at Union County High School. He had previously taught at Foster Park Elementary and Jonesville Elementary schools.  He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.  Mr. McKenzie was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of Cantrell Rod and Gun Club. 

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two daughters, Madeline Sara Norton and Hannah Christin Norton of the home; a brother, Keith McKenzie and wife Margaret of York; a niece Maranda McKenzie of York; and his beloved English Setter, Dash.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone, Rev. Norman Band, and Father Michael McCafferty.

The Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will follow from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

The following are asked to serve as active pallbearers, Paul “Hamp” Jeter, Chris Sanders, Andy Youngblood, Don Hyder, Charlie Kelly, and Mark Cathcart.  The faculty and staff of Union County High School are asked to serve as the honorary escort.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Claude Woollen, Dr. Asim Pati, and special nurses, Ashley Franklin, Lisa Kirby, Asha Desi, Phyllis Bates, and Jennifer Sizemore for the professional yet kind and compassionate care extended to Matt during his illness.

Faye L. Smith
Eatonton, GA


Mrs. Faye Lovings Smith, age 87, widow of Cecil Smith, passed away December 28, 2014 at Coliseum Medical Center, in Macon GA.

A lifelong resident of Union, Mrs. Smith was born, January 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Charlie Ross Lovings and Lily Lee Trammell Lovings. She lived on the Whitmire Hwy. until her health failed and she then lived with her daughter in Lancaster. She currently resided with her son in Eatonton, GA. Mrs. Smith worked in textiles in Union County and was educated in the Union schools. She was a lifelong member of Hebron Baptist Church and the last surviving member of eight brothers and sisters.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara S. Spencer of Lancaster; two sons, John T. Smith of Eatonton, GA and Cecil “Butch” Smith of Lugoff; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1:30 until 3:00 Wednesday prior to the services in the chapel.  Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery.

Mrs. Cynthia Comer Smith, age 64 of 2034 Jonesville Hwy., Union, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born in Union, August 1, 1950 a daughter of the late Bill and Lucille Stepp Comer. She was a 1968 graduate of Union High School and attended Philippi Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Tiffany Smith of the home and Amber Humphries Bobo and husband Tony of Columbia; two brothers, Donald Comer, and Wayne Comer and wife Linda all of Union; and two grandsons, Craig Dearnaley and Aaron Dearnaley both of Vancouver, WA.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the services.

The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, David Comer, Donald Wayne Comer, Brandon Comer, Tony Bobo and Halon Duckett.

Frances B. Hindman

Mrs. Frances Bailey Hindman, age 90, of 314 Westminister Circle, Union, widow of Gerald Ralph Hindman, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Hindman was born in Union Co., December 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Jesse Franklin Bailey and Sarah Colleen Esters Bailey. She was a graduate of Cross Anchor High School and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen W. Thompson of Union; two sons, Stanley Ralph Hindman, Sr. and wife Wilma of Santuck and David Allen Hindman of the home; a sister, Anna Marie Roark of Union; a brother, Raymond Bailey of Virginia; six grandchildren, Stanley Ralph Hindman, Jr., Brian Hindman, Kriston H. Vardemon, Ellen Elizabeth Hindman, Farrah M. Farr, and Karmen V. Wade; and five great-grandchchildren.  Mrs. Hindman was predeceased by two sons, Charles Franklin Hindman and Gerald Kent Hindman; a grandson, David Christopher Hindman; and a sister, Alice Bailey Hatman.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Pastor Bill Strong. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Lewis M. Grady

Mr. Lewis Marvin Grady, age 89, of 324 Terry Dr., Union, widower of Dorothy Steele Grady, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Heartland of Union.

Mr. Grady was born in the Tuckertown community of Union Co., June 13, 1925, a son of the late Claude Pinckney Grady and Corrine McGowan Grady. He was retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Grady was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He loved spending time outdoors and visiting with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Ponnee Lovelace and husband Mike of Union; two sons, Ray Grady of Columbus, TX and Jerry Grady of Union; two sisters, Willie Mae Patterson of Clinton and Betty Roberts and husband Billy of Union; fifteen grandchildren, Julie Minnick, Niki Stanley, Devin Grady, Aaron Grady, Garrett Grady, Jennifer Grady, Trey Harris, Michael Harris, Mark Harris, Michelle Austin, Louie Grady, Angela Reynolds, Tracy Duncan, Crystal Belue and Brandy Greene; twenty-eight great-grandcildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Grady was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Grady Harris, a son, Eddie Grady, two sisters, Minnie Lee Maye and Elizabeth Moss, and a brother Claude William Grady.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Covenant Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Wayne Cooke and Rev. Jack Bratton, Sr.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Harris, Michael Harris, Trey Harris, Louie Grady, Aaron Grady, Shannon Austin, and Jerry Dunn.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mary Dixon

Mrs. Mary Parr Dixon, age 88 of 1874 Tinker Creek Rd., (Santuck Community), Union, widow of William T. Dixon, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Union, February 15, 1926, a daughter of the late James Fred and Vera Huskey Parr.  She was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Dixon was a retired school teacher having taught in Winnsboro and in many of the schools in Union. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on many committies, and was the past President of the Women’s Missionary Union. She was an active member of the Santuck community having helped to found the Santuck Fire Department and Primetimers of Santuck.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy Dixon Medlock and husband Eddie of the home; a sister, Virginia Whitlock of Chapin; a granddaughter, Jill Green Crocker and husband Jamie of Santuck; two great-granddaughters, Haleigh Miranda Babb and Mary Elizabeth Babb both of Santuck.  Mrs. Dixon was predeceased by a son, William T. “Billy” Dixon.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Wiseman and Chaplain Donna Stroud.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held after the services in the church.

Mrs. Geraldine Grant, age 74 of 149 Martin Rd., Union, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Grant was born in Union, September 1, 1940 a daughter of the late Gladys Grant Jolly. She was a homemaker and a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church. 

Surviving are two daughters, Tammie Henderson of Rutherfordton, NC and Marie Ann Wright of Spartanburg; a son, Michael Fields of the home; a sister, Gini Walters Davis of Union; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Grant was predeceased by a daughter, Amanda Powers and a brother, David Allen Walters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 26, 2014 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

Mary Elizabeth Fallaw

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Fallaw, age 80 of 306 Maple St., Union, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Fallaw was born in Union, July 29, 1934, a daughter of the late Horace and Pauline Foster LeMaster.  She attended Union High School, was a homemaker and a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Ricky Fallaw and wife Janice, and Lynn Fallaw and special friend, Sherrie Murphy all of Union; a sister, Patsy Eubanks and husband Harold of Union and a dear friend, Mary Vinson of Gaffney; two grandsons, Scott Fallaw of Charleston, and Chris Fallaw and wife Alicia of Mt. Airy, NC; five great-grandchildren, Dylan and Justin Fallaw of Union and McKenly, Westin and Rhett Fallaw of Mt. Airy, NC.  Mrs. Fallaw was predeceased by a son, Darryl Mark Fallaw, and two sisters, Doris LeMaster and Becky Dye.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Branch. Visitation will be at the graveside immediately following the services.

Betty Jane Clewis Wilkins
Decatur, GA


Betty Jane Clewis Wilkins, age 88, passed away Friday December 12, 2014, at home at Clairmont Place, Decatur, GA.  She was born on May 7, 1926 in Grapeland, Texas to Lillian McMurrey Clewis and Arnold Stephen Clewis.  She graduated from Grapeland High School and then went on to earn a BBA from Sam Houston State University in 1946.  She worked for the State of Texas Department of Education, taught high school business courses, and then went to work for Humble Oil Company, the predecessor of Exxon, in Baytown, Texas.  It was there that she met Monty Wilkins and they were married on October 8, 1955.  They settled in Toccoa, Georgia for several years until relocating to Port Arthur, Texas where they would live for over 20 years with one brief relocation to Cincinnati, Ohio.  In 1981, the family was transferred to Atlanta, GA.  They settled in Peachtree Corners and Betty remained there after Monty’s death until moving to Clairmont Place in  Decatur, GA in 2008.  Betty was a tireless volunteer during her lifetime for all her children’s activities, including serving on numerous PTA boards and leading a Camp Fire Girls group.  She faithfully served her church by holding positions of leadership throughout her life.  Betty volunteered in her later years as a Meals on Wheels volunteer and at the Norcross Cooperative Ministry Food Pantry.  Family was always Betty’s priority and her focus.  Her grandchildren were the absolute delight of her life and she enjoyed every minute she spent with them.  Next to family, Betty’s passion was as a die-hard Texan to the end and she never missed an opportunity to tell anyone about the great state of her birth. 

Survivors include son, Monty Wilkins and wife Harriet of Lafayette, Louisiana; daughter, Kathy Brockman and husband Bard of Atlanta; and daughter, Beth Sisler and husband Matt of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  Her grandchildren include Andrew and Maria Wilkins of Lafayette, LA; Ben and Jonathon Brockman of Atlanta, GA; and Lauren and Trey Mathewes of Mt. Pleasant, SC.  She is also survived by several cousins living in Texas who knew her affectionately as Betty Jane. 

A Celebration of Betty’s life is planned for Friday, December 19 at 10:00 am at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church’s Little Chapel.  The family will receive visitors at 9 am in the church parlor.   A graveside service will follow at 4:00 pm at Oakland Cemetery in Gaffney, SC.

The family extends deepest gratitude to Betty’s tireless caregiver, Darlene Kemp Sims.  Darlene took great care of Betty during the last 4 years of her life.  Other caregivers include Kudirat Adewale, Helen Sims, Charlene Sims and others.  Gratitude is also expressed to Hospice Atlanta for their support over the last month.

Freddie L. Shirley
Union, SC


Mr. Freddie L. Shirley, age 85, husband of Leila Jones Shirley of 205 Lakeview Heights, Union, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Shirley was born in Union, May 4, 1929, a son of the late John Frazier Shirley and Ruth Middlebrooks Shirley.  He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken. After retirement, Mr. Shirley worked for 16 years with the Union Co. Council on Aging.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War.  Mr. Shirley was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he was a former choir member, a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. Mr. Shirley was also a member of the John A. Fant Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post 22.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Shirley was predeceased by four sisters, Virginia Redmon, Ethel Russell, Marjorie Morris and Doreatha Goodson.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green, Rev. Wayne Cooke and Rev. Bob Cato. Burial with Military Honors will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Russell, Phil Russell, Bryan Morris, Mike Redmon, Clint Goodson and William Earl Sprouse.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary pallbearers, Monty Cooke, Lamar Redmon, Harold Lawson, Patrick Russell, Stephen Russell, members of the Freddie Shirley Sunday School class, employees of Gentiva Home Health and employees the Union Co. Counsel on Aging.

Mrs. Mary H. Ivey, age 78, of 1607 Jonesville Highway, Union, widow of Haskell Ivey, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Ivey was born in Union, SC on November 26, 1936 a daughter of the late Dewey Harris and Alice Fowler Harris.  She was a 1954 graduate of Union High School.  Mrs. Ivey was a homemaker and seamstress and was a loving mother and “Nana” to many.  She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church and attended New Life Baptist Church and was a proud member of the Union Clemson Club.

Surviving are three daughters, Debbie Trammell and husband Steve of Union, Cindy Ivey of the home, and Kim McNeace of Union; three grandchildren, Brooke Sherbert and husband Dan, Dylan McNeace, and Marissa McNeace; and two great-grandchildren, Laine Ivey Sherbert and Brent Sherbert.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 18, 2014 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Shannon Faulkner, Rev. Robert Chapman, and Mr. Michael Brown.  Burial will follow at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mattie Sue H. Kingsmore

Mrs. Mattie Sue Hyatt Kingsmore, age 93, of 960 Main St., Buffalo, widow of Archie Herrel Kingsmore, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Kingsmore was born in Union Co., April 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lizzie Lamb Hyatt.  She was a graduate of West Springs High School and the Arthur School of Cosmetology. Mrs. Kingsmore worked for Buffalo Mill prior to becoming a cosmetologist and operating her own beauty shop. She had a passion for her family, friends, flowers and food and received numerous awards for her canned goods, baked goods and flowers.  An avid member of Buffalo Baptist Church, Mrs. Kingsmore also loved gospel music.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Kingsmore and a son, Dan Kingsmore and wife Brenda all of Myrtle Beach;  a brother, Louie Hyatt of the Putman community; four grandsons, Van Kingsmore, Alan Kingsmore, Ed Kingsmore and Kip Kingsmore; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Lynn Ford.  Burial will be at Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Harold E. Harris

Harold E. Harris, husband of Sandra Turner Harris, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Mr. Harris was born in Union, SC, to Mabel R. Harris and the late Roy S. Harris. He was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1961.  He served in the US Navy and retired from the US Naval Reserves after 20 plus years of service to his country. He was employed by Southern Bell, AT&T and TICS Communications of Fort Mill, SC. He retired from AT&T in 1989 and from TICS Communications in 2001.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Sandra Turner Harris; two daughters and a son-in-law, LuAnn Harris of Greenville, and Kelli H. and husband Chris Mesardjian of Simpsonville; a grandson, Cayden Harris Mesardjian; two sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Jim Gregory, and Kathy and Bill Horne, all of Roebuck; a sister-in-law, Patricia K. Turner and friend, Hubert, of Jonesville; nieces and nephews, Renee Seay, Amy and Bob Bradshaw, all of Roebuck, Todd and Christie Turner and Tonya T. and Kevin Brown, all of Jonesville; great- nephews, Brandon Seay, Alex Bradshaw, Jonathan and Will Turner; a great-niece, Karly Brown; and his beloved grand-dogs, Charlie, Honey and Sarge.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Harris; and in-laws, Clarence W. and Martha Cudd Turner; a brother-in-law, William Turner; and beloved pets, Max, Zack, Prince and Colombo.

Mrs. Rudy Vinson Harris, age 93, of 1510 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, widow of Robert Marshall Harris, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 12, 2014.

Mrs. Harris was born in Union, June 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph “Tiny” Vinson and Mamie Vinson. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Harris was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Harris and Sherry H. Hodge and special friend Ronnie Green all of Union, and Judy Phillips and husband Don of Dallas, TX; two sons; Joseph T. “Joe” Harris and wife Sarah of Union and Danny D. Harris of the home; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Mrs. Harris was predeceased by two sons, John R. Harris and Paul Kenneth Harris and a granddaughter, Melissa Hope Harris.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Monday, December 15, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Glenn Ribelin and Rev. Robert Branch.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Belue, Wayne Belue, Neil Belue, Stanley Gallman, David Baldwin and Dennis Belue.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Floyd “Stump” Heatherly, L.C. Johnson, Jimmy Belue, Don Sawyer, Mike Scales, Larry Tyler, Johnny Gregory and Jack Jennings.

Mrs. Daisy Leatha Buice Martinez, age 71, widow of Daniel Martinez, of 1130 Cleveland St., Pacolet, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Mrs. Martinez was born in Union, January 10, 1943, a daughter of the late William Albert Buice and Daisy Belle Fowler Buice.  She was previously employed with Milliken and Co., Monarch Plant then moved to Antonito, CO where she was the owner and operator of Park Place Hotel. Mrs. Martinez was a member of  Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church and also the Pacolet Senior Citizens. While in Colorado, she was very active in the Veteran’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was first married to the late Donnie Joe Reynolds.

Surviving in are two daughters, Lynn R. Thornton of Inman and Lora Reynolds of Pacolet; one son, Lonnie Reynolds of Union; a sister, Emily Peeler and husband Earl of Pacolet Mills; a brother, Tony Buice and wife Kim of Gaffney; four granddaughters, Brittney and McKenzie Thornton, and Kyleigh and Khloe Lamb.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ralph Jett.  Visitation will will be held from 12:00 until 1:30 PM prior to the services at the church.

Mrs. Minnie Littlejohn Wix, age 82, wife of Carl Wix of 155 Lee Rd., passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Wix was born in Spartanburg Co., June 20, 1932, a daughter of the late Gus and Ella Foster Littlejohn. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are six children, James Littlejohn, Kathy Galloway, Haley Hofmann and husband Karl, Brenda Eller and husband Arley, Betty Jean Kirby and special friend Wallace Harris and Johnny Burgess and wife Connie; two sisters, Ella Mae Parr and Daisy Ingle; a brother, Roy Littlejohn; eleven grandchildren, Ernest Kent Littlejohn, Jamie Littlejohn, Johnny Andrew Eller, Roxanne Gowan, David Haney, Brad Eller, Jessica and Johnathan Kirby, April Goins and Missy Burgess; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Mrs. Wix was predeceased by two children, Ernest Kirby, Jr. and Bobby Joe Kirby, a grandchild, Michael Dean Haney, one sister, Florence Puckett and nine brothers, Lung Littlejohn, Rob Littlejohn, Frank Littlejohn, Clifford Littlejohn, Ray Puckett, Luther Puckett, Mack Puckett, Junior Puckett and Claude Puckett.

Funeral services will be held  3:00 PM Saturday, December 13, 2014, at New Hope Baptist Church, Buffalo, SC, conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Brad Eller, Andy Eller, Tyler Haney, David Haney, Pete Brock and Kenny Puckett.

Members of Mrs. Wix’s Sunday School Class of New Hope Baptist are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Prince was born in Union, SC June 4, 1937, a daughter of the late Willie Deaton, Sr. and Hattie Deaton. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are a daughter: Kandy Bobo and husband Dale of Union; two sons: Richard Prince, Jr. “Bokie” and Joey Prince and fiancée, Amy Dover, all of Union; four grandchildren: Roger Bobo and fiancée, Jennie, Brian Bobo, Christin Prince and Richard Prince, III “Trey” all of Union; four great-grandchildren: Hayley Bobo, Crystal Prince, R.J. Bobo and Kevin Everhart all of Union; one sister: Lucille Sinclair.  Mrs. Prince was predeceased by two sisters: Fannie Mae Dixon and Juanita Belue; one brother, Willie Deaton, Jr.

Mr. Donald Leon “Junior” Dover, Jr., age 56 of 1540 Hinton Rd., Great Falls, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Mr. Dover was born in Union, SC September 10, 1958, a son of Doris Haney Dover of Union and the late Donald Leon Dover, Sr. He was formerly employed with Laurens Electric and was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters, Phyllis Smith and husband Donald of Union and Penny Lawson of Sharon; a niece, Shelley Smith of Union and two special friends, Pam Thomas of the home and Anita Pettit of Philadelphia.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz and Rev. Michael McGowan.

Irene (Tug) Conard Lee, 93, of Lockhart, SC  passed away Dec.3, 2014.  She was the widow of Robert Edward Lee, Sr. Mrs. Lee was born on Sept, 8, 1921, the daughter of the late John and Virgie Black Conard. Mrs. Lee was a member of the Lockhart First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Bobby) Lee Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Irmo, SC, two grandsons, Britton Lee and his wife, Wendy, of Irmo and Robby Lee of Denver, CO, her beloved great-granddaughters, Olivia and Alyssa Lee of Irmo, and a brother, Charles (Dick) Conard of Lockhart, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lloyd (Red)Conard, John T. (Bud) Conrad, and W.E. (Runt) Conard and  sisters, Louise Rash, Jerusha Palmer, Marie Stephenson, and Carolyn McKnight.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am at Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel, Union, SC on Saturday, Dec. 6. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 at the chapel. Pallbearers will be Tim Gregory, Johnny McKnight, Tracy Rash, Wayne Porter, Esten Conard, and Mack Rash.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland (Oakmont) Health Care Center for their compassion and wonderful care shown during this difficult time.

Mr. Harold Gene Vaughn, age 76 of 308 Alman Street, Apt 14S, Jonesville, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the home of his brother, Cook Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn was born in Union, SC August 31, 1938, a son of the late William Paul Vaughn and Mamie Jeanette Gault Vaughn Boughman. He was a 1957 graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Enoree Mills. Mr. Vaughn was a member of Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sisters: Frances Craig and husband Lewis of Moore, Donna Harris and husband Grady and Virginia Beers all of Spartanburg; a brother, Paul “Cook” Vaughn of Union; a niece, Peggy Mullinax and husband Steve of Spartanburg; a special caregiver, Mary Price of Union and a special friend, Frances Smith of Charlotte. Mr. Vaughn was predeceased by three sisters: Louise Petty Kirby, Ila Mae Rector and Mittie Ruth Boughman and six brothers, R.D. Vaughn, James Vaughn, Bobby Vaughn and a set of triplets.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Glenn Ribelin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Vaughn’s nephews will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45 PM Saturday in the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Earley was born in Spartanburg Co., July 3, 1960, a daughter of the late Cecil and Elsie West Ivey. She was a member of Sulpher Springs Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, James Earley and wife Rosalee of Jonesville, and Johnny Earley and wife Angela of Gaffney; two sisters, Linda Thompson of Gaffney and Kathleen (Kat) Ivey of Gray Court; three brothers, Kenny Ivey of Gaffney, Michael Ivey of TN, and Alvin Ivey of Fingerville; grandchildren; Amber Sawey, Cierra Earley, Brian Green, Dakota Earley, Austin Earley, Hannah Earley, Cheyenne Earley, and Cindy Mae Earley; and one great-granddaughter, Nevah Green.  Mrs. Earley was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Ivey and Jimmy Ivey.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, Union, SC.
