Mrs. Myrtle Corean Hoyle, age 98, widow of John P. Hoyle, formerly of Monarch died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Hoyle was born in Polk County, NC June 8, 1908, a daughter of the late John M. Steadman and Dovie Smith Steadman. She was retired from Milliken & Co - Monarch Plant and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Survivors are two sons: Charles Hoyle and wife Julie of Port Orange, FL and Joe Dean Hoyle and wife Patty of Pacolet, a brother, Horace Steadman of Shelby, NC, six grandchildren: Michele Brady, Angie Ledbetter, Jodi Gilmer, Charles Hoyle, Jr., John W. Hoyle and Margaret Hoyle and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Benny Green, Rev. Bill Adams and Mr. Randolph Whitehead. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Ned Steadman, Johnnie Hawkins, Tim Chapman, Kyle Gilmer, Jeff Ledbetter, Ryan Brady and Dan Martin.

Ernest Aaron Anthony
Buffalo, SC

Mr. Ernest Aaron Anthony, age 80, husband of Ruth Anne Anthony of 2875 Buffalo West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, SC died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mr. Anthony was born March 8, 1927 in Buffalo, SC, a son of the late Arthur Lee Anthony and Mae Garland Anthony. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and on the Maintenance Committee. Mr. Anthony was the former co-owner of Wingo and Anthony Service Station which opened in 1953. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II.. Mr. Anthony was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-eight years are three sons and daughters-in-laws: Mike and Dale Anthony, Tommy and Donna Anthony of Union and Wayne and Susan Anthony of Spartanburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Karmen Kingsmore of Union; nine grandchildren: Stephanie Nelson and husband Andy, Trey Anthony and wife Lauren, Ty Anthony and wife Amanda, Brett Anthony, Kacie Kingsmore, Mitch Anthony, Will Anthony, Aaron Anthony and Andrew Kingsmore; three great-grandsons, Cameron Nelson, Caden Nelson and Austin Anthony. Mr. Anthony was predeceased by a brother, Everette Anthony.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson, Rev. Robert Emory and Rev. Steve Lemons. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Anthony’s grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. The employees of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home, Hospice of S.C., the Holmes Bishop Sunday School Class and Ben Wages are asked to sit in a group along with Don and Ann Moore, Bruce and Linda Betenbaugh, Wingo’s Friends, Paul Davis, Billy and Vera Ray, Mike and Carol Johnson, Tommy and Kathy Robertson, Charlie and Lorene Giles, Ellis and Peggy Langley, Glenn Caldwell, Don Caldwell and Dr. Harold Fleming.

Mrs. Grace Mae Adams Donnels, age 82, formerly of 492 Putman Rd., Buffalo, SC, widow of George Donnels died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Valley Falls Terrace Nursing Home in Spartanburg, SC.

Mrs. Donnels was born in Lee County, TN January 20, 1925, a daughter of the late Mandy Adams. She was a member of Putman Baptist Church and was a beloved mother and grandmother.

Survivors are eight children: Lucy Matthews and husband Jay of Woodruff, Frank Donnels and wife Mary of St. George, SC, Dona Cooper of Spartanburg, Roy Donnels and wife Carolyn of Woodruff, Ray Donnels and wife Pat of Woodruff, Phillip Donnels and wife Barbara of Moore, Margie Burgess and husband Terry of Buffalo and Charles "Bud" Donnels of Woodruff, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Ted Hodges and Chaplain Bill Yown. Burial will be in Roebuck Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Donald Babb, Marshall O’Shields, Maxx Revis, William Mosley, Jerry Burgess and Al Greer. Employees of Valley Falls Terrace and Interim Hospice are asked to assemble at the church at 2:45 PM Tuesday to form the Honorary Escort.

Mrs. Gertrude McMillan Caudle, age 87, formerly of Rock Hill, SC, widow of James Paul Caudle died Monday, April 2, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Caudle was born in Buffalo, SC November 25, 1919, a daughter of the late Frank McMillan and Rebecca Walker McMillan. She was a homemaker and a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Sylvia Belue and husband Leroy Belue, Sr. of Buffalo, two grandsons: Leroy Belue, Jr. and wife Beth and David Belue all of Union, three brothers: James "Shug" McMillan and wife Boot of Buffalo, Edward "Doc" McMillan and wife Tene of Greenwood, Jerry McMillan and wife Pat of Whitmire, two sisters- in-law: Alice McMillan of Union and Ollie Mae Dunn of Charlotte, NC. Mrs. Caudle was predeceased by a sister and two brothers: Ruby Barfield, J.C. McMillan and Elmer McMillan.

Mrs. Eloise Haney Sumner, age 81, widow of John Sumner of 409 Drugstore St., Buffalo, died at her home Wednesday, April 4, 2007 after a long illness.

Mrs. Sumner was born in Buffalo, November 5, 1925, a daughter of the late Eules and Mary Vinson Haney. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter: Susan Mullinnix and husband John of Buffalo; two brothers: James Earl Haney and wife Polly and Harold Haney and wife Pat all of Buffalo; one grandson: Phillip Mullinnix of Buffalo; a niece Patty Keasler and husband Rick of Union. Mrs. Sumner was predeceased by a sister, Mildred McSwain.

Mrs. Sara Patterson Bridges, age 81 of 1108 Arthur Blvd, Union, SC, widow of Rev. Dr. Joe J. Bridges died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Bridges was born in Shelby, NC March 25, 1926, a daughter of the late WilliamThomas Patterson and Loula Gibson Patterson. She was a graduate of #3 High School in Shelby, NC. Mrs. Bridges was the Founder and Director of Mon-Aetna Day Care and was very active in her husband’s ministry. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Union where she was a member of the WMU, and was a former Sunday School Teacher and Choir member of both Mon Aetna Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Joann Bridges Parris and husband John F. of Union, a son, Larry Bridges and wife Laura G. of Rock Hill, SC, an adopted daughter, Alice Sanders of Union, two grandsons: Will S. Bridges and Spencer G. Bridges both of Jacksonville, FL. Mrs. Bridges was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers: Docia Blanton, Odessa Hopper, Kathleen Hamby, J.Y. Patterson, Holland Patterson, Albert Patterson, and Charles Patterson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green, Jr. and Rev. Tommy McManus. Burial will be in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy Willard Mabry, age 84, wife of William P. Mabry of 218 South Mountian St., Union, died at her home, Thursday, April 5, 2007.

Mrs. Mabry was born in Union, February 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Humphries Henry "H.H." Willard, Sr. and Carrie Burgess Willard. Mrs. Willard was a graduate of Union High School and attended Lander College. She formerly worked for Arthur State Bank and Union County Bank and had worked in the Manning, S.C. Public Schools System. Mrs. Mabry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Mabry was the last surviving member of immediate family. Surviving in addition to her husband are a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters: Louise Willard, Nina Skelton and Helen Bradley; and two brothers: H. H. Willard, Jr. and Ezell Willard.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gary Byrd and Chaplain Jim Hager.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.

Mrs. Regina Gail Hopkins, age 55, wife of David Hopkins of 2236 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Buffalo, SC died Monday, April 9, 2007 at her home after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Hopkins was born in Fulton Georgia February 26, 1952, a daughter of Clyde Edward Foster and Deloma Elkins Foster of Greenville. She was a graduate of Parker High School in Greenville was a member of the National Barrel Racing Association. Mrs. Hopkins was the owner and operator of Buffalo Pet Center.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter, Lucinda Orr, a grandson, Ty Orr both of the home, a sister, Sandra Hawkins and husband Darrell of Seneca, a brother, Roger Foster and wife Karen of Greenville, three nieces: Pam Durschlag of Charlotte, NC, Amy Hawkins of Seneca and Raegan Foster of Greenville.

Mr. Anthony Boyd "Tony" Sexton, age 49, husband of Gayle Parkins Sexton of 1337 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, SC died Monday, April 9, 2007 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, SC.

Mr. Sexton was born in Union, SC November 26, 1957, a son of John E. Sexton, Sr and Barbara June Posey Sexton of Union. He was a 1976 graduate of Union High School and was employed with Exopac in Spartanburg. Mr. Sexton was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are two sons: Jonathan Sexton and Fiancee Laura Long both of Union, Dennis Gregory and wife Amanda of Summerville, a brother, Eddie Sexton, Jr. of Union and two grandchildren, Brayden Gregry and Reagan Gregory.

Mrs. Pitt was born in Union, SC January 12, 1935, a daughter of the late Russell Roark, Sr and Lula Estelle Ashe Roark. She was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle of God Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Pitt was first married to the late Roy "Bits" Baldwin.

Survivors are three daughters: Joyce Dobson and husband Paul of York, Freda Taylor and husband Jack and Mary Ann Vaughn and friend Ruben Hunter all of Buffalo, two sons: Ricky Baldwin and Larry "PeeWee" Baldwin both of Buffalo, four sisters: Mamie Lou Horne of Union, Faye Phipps of Jonesville, Goldie Brock and Frances Woods both of Union, two brothers, Russell Roark, Jr and Albert Roark both of Union, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a special friend, Jack Moss of Buffalo. Mr. Pitman was born in North Carolina January 4, 1927, a son of the late George and Susie McKinney Pitman.

Surviving are three step-children: Ruth and Donald Barnett, Judith and Randy Cannon, and Charles and Katheleen LaPierre all of Buffalo, three sisters: Mary Young, Martha Robinson and Elizabeth Fortner, two brothers: Phil Pitman and Albert Pitman all of North Carolina, a special friend, Linda Boulware of Buffalo, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Walton was born in Union, SC July 27, 1940, a son of the late Jack Walton and Nellie Ruth Williford Walton. He retired from Torrington Co and had formerly worked at Monarch Mill. He was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Survivors are two daughters: Melinda Haney and husband Tommy and Judy Lancaster and husband Ralph, a son, Eddie Walton and friend Rose all of Union, a special friend and companion, Elnora Plexico of Union, a brother, Jerry Walton and wife Christine, a sister, Hazel Mills and husband Binky all of Union, 4 grandchildren: Misty Haney, Christy Haney Garner, Kelly Walton and Ashley Lancaster, 2 great-grandchildren: J.T. Mrs. Wood was born in Chester, September 3, 1913, a daughter of the late Ernest and Nora Stegall Allen. She was retired from Milliken Co., Lockhart Plant and was a member of Lockhart United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter: Peggy Sanders and husband Wallace of Pacolet; three sons: James B. Wood, Jr. and wife Dana of McConnells , Ernest "Fuzzy" Wood and wife Ruth of Jonesville and David Kent Wood and wife Kelly of Union; one sister: Izell Good of Chester; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wood was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Lee Allen.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 Pm Monday, April 16, 2007 at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chester Co. conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles.

Mr. Guy Wilbur Scales, age 85, husband of Lena Vinson Scales of 444 Bob Little Rd., Jonesville, died at his home, Sunday, April 15, 2007.

Mr. Scales was born in Union, September 4, 1921, a son of the late Lonnie Cleve Scales and Nettie Palmer Scales. He was a graduate of Kelly-Pinckney High School and the University of South Carolina Barber College. He was a retired barber and farmer. Mr. Scales was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army having served in WWII. He was a member of the 3rd Armored Division having fought in the Battle of the Bulge with Gen. George Patton. Mr. Scales was an active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the Methodist Men’s Club. He was also a member of the Jonesville American Legion.

Suviving in addition to his wife are one son: Mike Scales and wife Susan of Jonesville; a granddaughter: Emily Scales; a grandson: Matthew Scales both of Jonesville; one sister: Lenora Childers of Mauldin. Mr. Scales was predeceased by three sisters: Mary Gaffney, Beulah Ochiltree and Eloise Johnson; five brothers: Ottis, Ray, Harold, J.V. and Otis Kelly Scales.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, April 16, 2007 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Sweat and Rev. Carl Harris.

Active pallbearers will be Jack Scales, Scott Childers, Lewis McDade, Brad Horne, Kenneth Horne, Ricky McKinney, Billy McKinney and Tyler Adams.

The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service in the church.

Mr. Ernie Mack Johnson, age 36, husband of Sherri Shrader Johnson of 511 Brown’s Creek Church Rd., Union, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a sudden illness.

Mr. Johnson was born in Union, July 8, 1970, a son of Doug and Gail Laxton Johnson of Buffalo. He was a 1988 graduate of Union High School and attended the Alliance Truck Driving School. He was employed with Averitt Express Trucking and previously employed with Milliken Co., Excelsior Plant. Mr. Johnson was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are a sister: Tiffany Edward of Union; a brother: Steven Mark "Frog" Johnson of Union; his mother and father-in-law: Frank and Lillian Shrader of Lockhart; his maternal grandmother: Agnes Laxton of Union and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson and Rev. Gonzalee Childers. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Mrs. Josie Albright Brady, age 99, widow of Louis E. Brady died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Brady was born in Highfalls, NC August 15, 1907, a daughter of the late Walter and Levi Beall Albright. She retired from Cone Mills, Greensboro, NC and was the oldest member of Eller Memorial Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. Mrs. Brady was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a son, James E. Brady and wife Marie of Union, SC, two grandchildren, Vickie Bishop of Greenville and Gwen Deits and husband Chase of Lawrenceville, GA, three great-grandchildren, Brianne Bishop, Samantha Deits and Ryan Deits.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 PM Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Greensboro, NC conducted by Rev. Richard Nunn.

Mrs. Kaye H. Heatherly, age 70, wife of James Marvin Heatherly of 195 Bethany Church Rd., Jonesville, SC died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long battle with cancer.

Mrs. Heatherly was born in Yorkshire, England September 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Jack Hirst and Lily Eaton Hirst. She was a graduate of Banbury High School, Banbury, England and Kokomo Cosmetology School, Kokomo, IN. Mrs Heatherly was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister, Jackie Webster of Canada, two brothers, Michael Hirst and wife Doreen of Canada and John Hirst of England.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Keith Sweat and Rev. Carl Harris and Rev. Alan West. Entombment will follow at Union Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Betty Jo Johnson Zimmerman, age 67, of 101A Wimbleton Rd., Union, SC, widow of Ronnie Zimmerman died Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born in Cross Anchor, SC June 15, 1939, a daughter of the late John and Nina Sherbert Johnson. She was formerly employed with United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and was a member of Glory Baptist Church. Mrs. Zimmerman was first married to the late Tony Barnett. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was never too busy or too tired to have time for you.

Survivors are two daughters: Lisa Vinson and husband Billy of Buffalo and Amy Carr and husband Chris of North Augusta, SC, a son, Scott Barnett and wife Melanie of Buffalo, to sisters: Linda Chastain and husband Mike of Union and Eunice Tucker of Cross Anchor, five grandchildren: Blake Lawson of Columbia, Chase Vinson of Buffalo, Matthew and Brice Barnett of Buffalo and Gracie Carr of North Augusta, SC. Mrs. Zimmerman was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Hazel Leonhardt, Robert Johnson and William Johnson.

Mr. Taylor was born in Rockingham, NC August 2, 1926, a son of the late John and Mary Rentz Taylor. He previously made his home in California.

Survivors are a son, Clarence A. Taylor, Jr and a daughter Linda Carol Jolly, a sister, Viola Taylor Williford with whom he made his home, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. James Thomas Haney, age 90, husband of Elizabeth Lawson Haney of 146 Stevens Rd, Buffalo, SC died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Haney was born in Haywood County, North Carolina October 31, 1916, a son of the late James Rowe and Clarine Ratcliffe Haney. He was a self employed carpenter and was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church. Mr. Haney was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Linda H. Weaver and husband George of Union, a son, Thomas E. Haney and wife Barbara of Hawkins, TX, a sister Hilda H. Lt. Col. Bernie Lee Fraley, age 60, husband of Debra Martindale Fraley of 1116 Linersville Rd., Buffalo, Sc died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Fraley was born in Bradford, Pennsylvania March 8, 1947, a son of the late Herbert Fraley and Barbara Ann Bird Fraley. He was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the Disabled American Veterans, the Purple Heart Club, the Marine Corp League and former Marine National Guard; and Army Reserve. Mr. Fraley was of the Catholic Faith. He was Veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during the Vietnam Era.

Mrs. Doris Gallman Sexton, age 87, of 238 Gilead Street, Jonesville, SC, widow of J.H. Sexton, Sr., died Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC.

Mrs. Sexton was born in Union County, SC November 16, 1919, a daughter of the late Arthur W. Gallman and Lettie Coleman Gallman. She was a graduate of Jonesville High School and Cecil’s Business College. Mrs. Sexton was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member as long as her health permitted and also a member of the Union County Counsel on Aging. She was loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter, Abby S. Thomasson and husband David of Rock Hill, SC, a son, James Sexton, Jr and special friend Vyral Bogan of Jonesville, a special "adopted" family, Donnie and Vicki Vaughan and children of Jonesville, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sexton was predeceased by a son, Carroll Sexton, two sisters, Sara Gallman and Carolyn Dobson and a brother, William Arthur "Bill" Gallman.

Mr. Peahuff was born in Union, SC August 17, 1941, a son of William C. Peahuff of Union and the late Beulah Knox Peahuff. Mr. Peahuff was a former contractor.

Mrs. Moore was born in York County, SC July 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Jesse Cameron and Sadie Runyon Cameron. She retired from Conso Products.

Survivors are three daughters: Shirley McCloud and husband Ricky of Union, Iris Rogers and husband Don of Spartanburg and Edna M. Chapman and husband John of Prosperity, SC, a son, James Moore, Jr of Lockhart, a sister, Della Gilchrist and husband James of Sharon, SC, a brother, Thomas Michael Cameron of Rock Hill, SC, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers: Dolly Childers, Mattie Lou Kimmer, Patricia Stepp, Hennis Cameron and William Cameron.

Mr. Carroll D. Harmon, age 67, husband Patricia Horne Adams Harmon of 455 Wilson Rd., Union, SC died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital

Mr. Harmon was born in Union, SC April 29, 1939, a son of the late Charlie Harmon and Pauline Cogdill Moore. He retired from Community Cash and Piggly Wiggly Stores and was a member of the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Harmon was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and attended Fairforest Baptist Church with his wife.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Randy Harmon and wife Lynn of Pacolet and Jerry Harmon and wife Tonette of Wellford, SC, two step daughters: Lisa Hampton and husband David of Union and Tonya Greer and husband Chad of Jonesville, two sisters: Jackie Durden of Augusta, Ga and Jodie Willingham of Arkansas and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Harmon was predeceased by a son, Dean Harmon.

James Elmer Pease
Union, SC

Mr. James Elmer Pease, age 86, formerly of 203 N. Mountain Street, Union, SC, widower of Edith Feaster Pease died Monday, April 23, 2007 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.

Mr. Pease was born in North Attleboro, MA, January 20, 1921, a son of the late Elmer and Alice McNeill Pease. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the U.S. Army Parachute Infantry from 1942 to1945 in the European Theater of Operations and participated in four major campaigns: Rome-Arno, Southern France, Ardennes-Alsace,and Rhineland. In 1948, Mr. Pease was commissioned a second lieutenant, Infantry, in the South Carolina Army National Guard and retired in 1971 as a Lt. Colonel. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal among many others.

Mr. Pease graduated Wofford College in 1950 with a B.S. in Physics. He retired as an assistant principal in the Union County School System. He had previously worked for many years as Advertising Manager for the Union Daily Times and as a supervisor with Torrington Company.

An active member of Grace United Methodist Church for 57 years, Mr. Pease was a 50 year member of the Chancel Choir. He had served the church as a past Chairman of the Administrative Board and a Church volunteer. Mr. Pease had also been active in the community by serving on the Board of Trustees of the Union County United Fund, serving as a past president of the Union Lions Club and serving as Deputy Director of the Union County Civil Defense.

Mr. Pease was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are four nieces: Frances Feaster of Union, Mary Feaster of Columbia, Sharon Feaster of Central and Mary Ruth Davidson of New York; two nephews: William R. Feaster, Jr of Union and Russell Pease of Florida; a sister-in-law: Mulloy Feaster Christopher of Goose Creek.

Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Grace United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Byrd. The family will receive friends in the church parlor immediately following the services.

Mr. Ronald Edward Williams, age 65, of 1990 Thompson Quarter Rd., Sharon,SC, widower of Naomi Hampton Williams died Monday, April 23, 2007 at the home of his daughter in Pacolet, SC.

Mr. Williams was born in Severville, TN December 6, 1941, a son of Bessie Sutton Cannupp of Union and the late Dallas Williams. He retired from the SC Department of Education, Chester County School Bus Maintenance Department and following his retirement, he was a manager of Sportsman Gun & Pawn Shop in Chester. Mr. Williams was a member of Bullocks Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, also a member of the S.C. Horseshoe Pitchers Association and the National Horseshoe Pitching Competition. He was a loving farther and grandfather.

Surviving are three daughters, Amanda Robinson and husband Clint of Pacolet, SC, Diane Turner and husband Jerry of Lockhart, SC and Jewell Haeussler and husband Bill of Manchester, MI, a sister, Edna Porter of Chester, SC , five grandchildren: Carson Robinson of Pacolet, Brittany Turner, Ashley Turner both of Lockhart, Adrienne Talbert of Manchester, MI and Matthew Talbert of Marietta, Ga. Mr. Williams was predeceased by a sister and brother, Mary Cannon and Jimmy Williams and a grandson, Robby Gearhart.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Gregory Powell, age 95, widow of William Ray Powell formerly of Union, SC died Monday, April 23, 2007.

Mrs. Powell was born in Santuck, SC April 11, 1912, a daughter of the late Barth and Beulah Gregory. She retired from Union County Courthouse and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union.

Surviving are a son-in-law, H.M. Mrs. Margaret Evans West, age 90, widow of William Calhoun West formerly of Buffalo, SC died Monday, April 23, 2007 in Decatur, Ga.

Mrs. West was born in Buffalo, SC January 3, 1917, a daughter of Lawrence L. Evans and Annie Willard Evans. She retired from Sears and was a former member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Teresa W. Tuggle and husband Ralph W. "Buddy" Tuggle of Stone Mountain, Ga., a sister, Barbara Land of Pauline, four grandsons: Matthew Carpenter and fiancee Chris Comfort of Stone Mountain, Ga., Sgt. Jospeph Carpenter and wife Chrysti of Ft. Meade, MD, Daniel Carpenter and wife Jenny of Rome, Ga and Richard Tuggle of Stone Mountain, Ga, five granddaughters: Julie Carpenter, Kayley Carpenter, Molly Carpenter, Ally Carpenter and Abbey Carpenter.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 26, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Maxine Rose Isner, age 71 of 208 Knitting Mill Street, Jonesville, SC, widow of Don Isner died Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Isner was born in Rome, NY November 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Elwin French and Ruth Fountain French. She was a home maker and a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Pacolet. Mrs. Isner was formerly married to Robert LaMore.

Survivors are two daughters: Sandra Rhoden and Josephine A. Lanier both of Jonesville, two sons: Jackson French of Punta Gorda, Fl and William B. LaMore of Jonesville, two sisters: Joan Phillips and Bonita Gonia, five brothers: Maurice French, Arnold French, Lloyd French, Robert French and William French all of Malone, NY, eight grandchildren: Charles Jones, Janie Jones, Jessica Rhoden, Justin LaMore, Brandon Boyea, Travis Boyea, William C. LaMore and Anson Cox, six great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Cameron, Jada, Kendrah, Akirah and Skylar.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening, April 27, 2007 at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Monday in New York conducted by Farone & Son Funeral Home of Syracuse, N.C.

Mr. Samuel Walter Edens, age 70 of 249 Woodhaven Drive, Union, SC, widower of Charleen Foster Edens died Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Mr. Edens was born in Union, SC June 16, 1936, a son of the late Samuel Vance Edens, Jr and Lelia Franklin Edens. He retired from Cone Mills Carlisle Finishing Plant and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Edens was also a former member of S.C. National Guard.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy "Nicki" Beard and husband Dale K. Of Union, a son, Samuel E. "Sammy" Edens, Sr and wife Samantha Iles, a brother, Robert Edens of Union, two grandchildren, Samuel Eric Edens, Jr and D J Beard, four step-grandchildren: Julia Beard, Joshua Beard, Henry Raven and Stephanie Raven, four nephews: Kenneth and Jeffery Edens, Scott and Michael Varner. Mr. Edens was predeceased by a sister, Myra Lee Morrow.

Ms. Rose Adeline Pettit, age 78, formerly of Union, SC died Thursday, April 26,2007 at Magnolia Manor of Rock Hill, SC.

Ms. Pettit was born in Central, SC May 11,1928, a daughter of the late John F. Allen and Hattie Smith Allen. She retired from Borgess Hospital in Michigan and attended Temple Baptist Church of Union.

Survivors are a daughter, Linda Pettit of Union, five sons: Steve Pettit and wife Deborah of Allegan, MI, John Pettit and wife Judith of Plainwell, MI, Rick Pettit and wife Elaine of Kalamazoo, MI, Brian Pettit and wife Elaine of Lansing, MI and Mark Pettit of Union, a sister, Irene Frary and husband Eugene of Parchment, MI, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Ms. Pettit was predeceased by a sister and two brothers: Lorraine Doolittle, Richard Allen and Thomas Allen and infant twin great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Welcome Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Jarvis and Rev. Chris Norris. Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Juanita Smith Hyatt, age 90, widow of Willis I.. Hyatt, formerly of West Springs Community died Friday evening at Oakmont of Union Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hyatt was bon in Spartanburg County, SC March 15, 1917, a daughter of the late John Nicholas Smith and Emma Bell West Smith. She retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Freida S. Fuller and husband Franklin of Union, a son, Niconer Hyatt and wife Gail of West Springs, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and an "adopted" grandson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Angelia Price and Rev. Clayton Price. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Herbert "Sam" Crisp, age 77, of 294 Robin Hood Circle, Union, SC, widower of Sara McGowan Crisp died Saturday, April 28, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Crisp was born in Buffalo, SC, April 2, 1930, a son of the late Harry Crisp and Hettie Buckner Crisp. He retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant, was owner-operator of Hilltop Grill of Buffalo and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mr. Crisp was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp.

Surviving are two daughters: Sammye Nix and husband David "Bubba" Nix of Buffalo and Vicki Morgan and husband Bruce Morgan of Union, a son, Dennis "Hilltop Kid" Crisp of the home, two brothers: Donald Crisp of Buffalo and Thomas "Junior" Crisp and wife Edith of Orangeburg, SC, 5 grandchildren: Christie Knight, Misty Osborne, James Harris, Jr., Denver Harris and Kelley Nix, 10 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Barbara Land. Mr. Crisp was predeceased by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2007 at Buffalo Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson and Rev. Jerry Lawson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Mamie Lou Foster Kendrick, age 64 of 112 Jolly Drive, Union, SC died Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Ms. Kendrick was born in Union, SC November 30, 1942, a daughter of the late Walter Foster and Lucy Gregory Foster. She was formerly employed with Conso Products and was a member of Jonesville Church of God. Ms. Kendrick was formerly married to Tommy Howell of Union. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters, Trina Vinson of Union and Darlene Johnson and friend Carl Patrick of the home, four grandchildren: Tousha Smith, Shane Howell, Shaw Johnson and Mitchell Benton, two great-grandchildren, Dillon Smith and Jonathan Howell.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
